Despite the spate of mass shootings and police murders that roiled rhetoric from Democrats, both sides of the debate agree that guns will not play an influential role in the November elections, Fred Varney of the American Media Institute wrote for the Washington Examiner.
Voters don't care.
"I don't see any evidence that important Senate races are going to be decided on guns this year, even after Orlando," Wes Anderson of the National Rifle Association told American Media Institute.
Further, according to a Quinnipiac University poll conducted in late June, mere weeks after the massacre at an Orlando nightclub, 54 percent of Americans supported stricter gun control vs. 42 percent opposed.
That split is nearly identical to polling of the same question in 2013 and 2008, AMI reported.
Instead, the big staging ground for gun control will be waged at the state level, namely California, Maine, Nevada and Washington, AMI reported.
While Everytown for Gun Safety, former mayor Michael Bloomberg's group, has targeted just one Republican senator, Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, out of 24 seats the GOP is defending, it has spent $6.5 million in Nevada and Maine in support of gun control measures, according to the AMI.

It will be to gun owners.
“...both sides of the debate agree that guns will not play an influential role in the November elections...”
It want if the Republicans are stupid enough swallow the bait.
Exactly, they decided it wouldn’t be an issue. Not us.
It’s not an issue except that Hillary (Madam Benghazi) has said she wants to make it an issue.
It is common knowledge that anything associated with Clinton is a lie in some shape or form.
There is no such thing as “reasonable gun control” in my vocabulary.
WTF???? I never agreed to that.
Reasonable gun law: “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
Reasonable gun control is keeping your grouping in the 8-10 point range.
I am tired of the media and the democraps setting the
He should make it an issue by saying he is 100% FOR GUN CONTROL and say he will push for mandatory high school classes on how to properly control a gun.
That will certainly make their heads explode.
Newsmax HOPES it is not an issue
More like it won’t be a persuasive issue.
Spending money on it won’t produce results.
Sides are clear & chosen, nobody will change their vote because of more rhetoric.
Bloomie is wasting his money.
Well, it may well become and issue afterwards.
If it ‘s guns., Shitlerey’s toast!.....
Hillary Clinton won’t be signing laws, she’ll just appoint justices to ban all guns.
I thought he had been. Almost every rally I have gotten to view on youtube, he says “we will protect the 2nd Amendment.” It gets the BIGGEST applause along with “We will build the Wall” and “We will take care of our Vets.”
Wanna bet?
Even if Hillary were not an evil, power-hungry tyrant, her stance on guns is bad enough that I would not vote for her.
Guns are not the only issue I care about, but they provide useful insight into the mind of a politician. Any would-be ruler who wants the voters disarmed can reasonably assumed to have a good reason for attacking that fundamental right.
Do they mean reasonable gun control like they got reasonable abortion control?
I am pouring bullets with more planned to be poured.
