Maine restaurant won't serve customers who like guns
Heatstreet ^ | August 1, 2016 | Andrew Stiles

After the deadly terror attack at a gay nightclub in Orlando, a restaurant owner in Portland (Maine not Oregon) wanted to do something “outside the box” in order to solve the problem of “gun violence” in America.

So she wrote a post on Facebook.

Anne Verrill, owner of two Portland-area restaurants, wrote on Facebook that anyone who owns—or even supports an individual’s right to own—an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, may “no longer enter either of my restaurants, because the only thing I want to teach my children is love.”

The post was deleted after a bunch of people on the internet who like guns found out about it and wrote mean things and threatened to boycott.

The New York Times published a rather breathless account of Verrill’s activism:

This time she took a stand, knowing it could hurt her business in a pro-gun, largely rural state, where hunting and target practice are immensely popular and where the political schisms run deep.

It’s one thing to say that people who carry AR-15s, which is legal to do in Maine without a permit, cannot be served in a restaurant. Over the past several years, big chains such as Starbucks, Chipotle, and Panera Bread have implored customers in “open-carry” states not to bring their firearms into their establishments.

But Verrill wants to refuse service to people who simply believe that Americans should have a right to carry rifles. Some have noted that the situation is similar to a baker refusing to serve a gay couple on religious grounds. Such incidents sparked a wave of lawsuits and general outrage on the left, which usually rails against discrimination.

But maybe it’s just a certain kind of discrimination they don’t like. Consider the following thread:

Liberals love discrimination, as long as it's the Right Kind of discrimination, against the Right Kind of people. pic.twitter.com/EBhJTXz7bd

@CRobertBuchanan just like gun ownership!

Verrill wrote a follow-up post on Facebook, insisting that she wouldn’t stop “fighting for a better world” even if it costs her business.

“If evil and hate want to boycott my restaurants then so be it—because I believe good will be on my side on this,” she wrote. “As long as my doors are open I will believe that love is love.”

From the looks of the picture, she took a wonderful old church and turned it into a bar and restaurant. Now she is turning into Moonbat Central.

That Maine Moonbat is a resident of Sarasota County FL because FL doesn’t have an income tax... I think he lives next to another moonbat Jerry Springer...

I wonder if she has locks on her doors. After all, that doesn’t sound very loving, does it - locking out hungry people who just want a meal or a little cash?

Where is her love?

Liberals define their morality by their political stances. This is very convenient, because you can then be a good person who VOTES to give to the poor, while you don’t actually have to GIVE any of YOUR money to the poor!

In this case, you can simply be against innocent people being murdered, but you don’t have to trouble your little mind with thinking about HOW to achieve that end. Unlike myself, who carries so my innocent family might not be murdered...

If you own a gun, just don’t patronize the place. From what I heard who the clientele are and what they serve, I would not be caught dead in there. If they can’t make their overhead, soon or later they will go broke.

You’re right

All major cities are liberal wherever they are and many are black or Latino run

What saves the south are the white suburbs around every city and in cases of white population dominance we rule the rural areas but the delta regions and black belt are exceptions

Nashville TN because of 28% black and huge hipster population votes about like Portland or Austin

The surrounding 9-11 counties are the opposite

My county is 95% white at least and 75-80% GOP

in the Deep South whites vote 88-90% GOP now

That’s the main difference between Dixie and everyone else

How whites vote,,,,nowhere else is even close

Some of it is culture but much is to hold the tide against the black block

But even in Mississippi and Alabama you have white liberal zip codes

Fondren in Jackson and much of Oxford and parts of Hattiesburg

Southerners are more religious

10 times more churches in the south

All you said is true. It just means we have to fight liberalism on all fronts.
