Many FReepers who frequent the Canteen threads might know MeekMom (known to many as Kristin). MeekMom passed away on July 15, 2016, at the age of 50. She was born March 11, 1966 in Indianapolis, IN and passed away at home in Valparaiso, IN of natural causes.
Besides her sweet and loving Maine Coon cat Elsa, who lived with her, she leaves behind one son, her parents, one brother and one sister; as well as a niece and nephew who she loved dearly. She also leaves behind countless friends she made over the years online. But she spoke often of Free Republic's founder Jim Robinson as a "dear sweet man" and FR's own Kathy In Alaska, who she considered her online "Ma".
Kristin was Conservative to the core and a traditionalist at heart. She loved this country and it's military and she admired anyone who shared her values and principles and love of the LORD.
Kristin lived her life at it's fullest, despite what life threw at her; whether it was years of depression or struggling with the small fiber sensory neuropathy she acquired later in her life.
Besides the countless friendships she made on FR, her love of classical music, movies from yesteryear, Hercule Poirot, Alfred Hitchcock films, Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie novels sustained her.
She will be missed immensely by those who knew her. May Kristin (MeekMom) Rest In Eternal Peace.
Welcome Chief. I’ve been heartbroken all day since I talked to her mother on the phone this morning. I mentioned it to Kathy earlier and we were reminiscing about Meeky today. Kathy was the first person I thought to notify here because Meeky spoke lovingly of Kathy often. I haven’t cried like this since I lost my grandmother (who I took care of in her remaining months) about 10 years ago.
Sad news. Rest in peace.

Unfortunately I never had the pleasure of meeting what I am sure was a fine and remarkable person. Still, the world a a little darker with her passing and heaven a little brighter.

No!!!! I am so sorry to read this! I prayed for her nightly and hoped she was maybe getting better as I had not heard from her in a while. I will miss her. Rest in peace dear Kristin.

I was shocked too :( The last time I spoke to her was on Facebook the morning of the day she passed on. A week had gone by and things just didn’t seem right, so I called her mother and that’s when I found out what had happened.
Breaks my heart too. I just checked and the last time she and I chatted was the night of the 13th. I am stunned she is gone.
We’re praying here. So sad.
