Yet according to the Ministry of Propaganda -- the printed press and the broadcast news -- it was a "dark speech".

Well, #DarkSpeechesMatter

Well, you see, it’s like this:

When Democrats are in charge and things are going south, it is “dark” to point out any of the problems. You are only supposed to talk about rainbows and unicorns.

When Republicans are in charge and things are going fine, you are supposed to be seeking out nothing but bad to talk about. You are supposed to paint an apocalyptic picture.

If you go away from the script, it is “dark.”

George Stephanopoulos said the speech reminded him of Nixon.

Whatever.

George Stephanopoulos said the speech reminded him of Nixon.

When Nixon lost to Kennedy, George hadn't been born yet. When Nixon was inagurated, George was 8 years old.

just sayin'

and he was what, 13 or 14 when Watergate was happening. He must have watched a lot of tape when he became an activist because it was certainly not live. As much of an adolescent slob (from Gary Aldrich’s book) as he still is, would anyone expect him to have had the focus of an adult then?

For the Left, Republicans come in only two varieties: Fool or dark and evil.

Fool: Ford, Reagan, Bush, Bush, etc.

You can say many things about Nixon but he was clearly not a fool. Same with Trump. Therefore the default setting is “dark and evil”.

How awesome would it have been if a conservative Republican had credibly given this speech anytime in the last thirty years, huh?

HILLARY filled him in on the details.

If Trump can’t win in November no Republican will ever win the Presidency again. This is it, folks.

It was a dark speech from the Dark Knight. America is a dark place right now thanks to Clinton/Oboma. The speech reminded most of Reagan.

Pray America wakes

...or “1000 Points of Light” and “a Kinder and Gentler America”. At least I didn’t have to CRINGE during Trump’s speech, as I did during Bush’s 1988 “I hate Reagan” speech at that convention.

Stephy was 13 when Nixon left office and about 10 when Nixon last appeared before a nominating convention.

According to the Ministry of Propagana it was a "dark speech".

Amazing, isn't it? I suggested it's because they don't live in the real world. Another poster suggested it's because they profit from (paraphrasing) keeping the scam alive.

Note from the real world to the elite: It was a hopeful speech, because the problems have been identified, acknowledged, and now we can work together for solutions.

Exactly-it’s like the way they only notice the problem of homelessness when we have a Republican administration. It would seem that all the homeless find homes when a Democrat is in the White House. It’s so predictable. They’ve done it under every Republican administration I can remember.

I think Trump nailed it. Not one platitude, not one. And for all the media trying to say that he didn’t lay out wonky policy, that’s not what convention speeches are for. I mean, how quickly they forget-”hope’nchange” was a policy?
