Donald Trump's acceptance speech hit the mark Thursday night, drawing accolades from a number of GOP political insiders who doubted his competence to lead the Republican ticket this fall.
Thats according to The POLITICO Caucus a panel of operatives, activists and strategists in 11 battleground states surveyed immediately following Trumps speech. Fifty-six percent of Republican insiders said Trumps speech a forceful indictment of those responsible for what he perceives as a country in decline, along with an assurance that he is uniquely qualified to solve the nation's ills made them feel more confident in his candidacy.
Trump gave a simple message and expanded the Republican Party: law and order, economic populism and defeat the rigged system, said one Iowa Republican who, like all respondents, completed the survey anonymously.
I felt Trump gave a very good speech and struck on issues and policies that people wanted to hear about, added a Colorado Republican. His family and friends did an excellent job of showing the softer side of Donald Trump and gave America a good view of his family, which says a lot about him as a person. I think he is absolutely right this is a movement, not a normal campaign. People have had enough of tired politicians. I think they are going to give him the chance to run the country.

Well, #DarkSpeechesMatter
And he gave me my new tag line.
Well, you see, it’s like this:
When Democrats are in charge and things are going south, it is “dark” to point out any of the problems. You are only supposed to talk about rainbows and unicorns.
When Republicans are in charge and things are going fine, you are supposed to be seeking out nothing but bad to talk about. You are supposed to paint an apocalyptic picture.
If you go away from the script, it is “dark.”
George Stephanopoulos said the speech reminded him of Nixon.
Whatever.
When Nixon lost to Kennedy, George hadn't been born yet. When Nixon was inagurated, George was 8 years old.
just sayin'
and he was what, 13 or 14 when Watergate was happening. He must have watched a lot of tape when he became an activist because it was certainly not live. As much of an adolescent slob (from Gary Aldrich’s book) as he still is, would anyone expect him to have had the focus of an adult then?
For the Left, Republicans come in only two varieties: Fool or dark and evil.
Fool: Ford, Reagan, Bush, Bush, etc.
You can say many things about Nixon but he was clearly not a fool. Same with Trump. Therefore the default setting is “dark and evil”.
How awesome would it have been if a conservative Republican had credibly given this speech anytime in the last thirty years, huh?
[As much of an adolescent slob (from Gary Aldrichs book) as he still is, would anyone expect him to have had the focus of an adult then?]
HILLARY filled him in on the details.
George Stephanopoulos reminds me of Crooked Hillary and Rapist Bill.
If Trump can’t win in November no Republican will ever win the Presidency again. This is it, folks.
It was a dark speech from the Dark Knight. America is a dark place right now thanks to Clinton/Oboma. The speech reminded most of Reagan.
Pray America wakes
Quote:
“George Stephanopoulos said the speech reminded him of Nixon.

Propaganda from the chief hired propagandist of the Government/Crony-Capitalist/Democrat Media.
“When Democrats are in charge and things are going south, it is dark to point out any of the problems. You are only supposed to talk about rainbows and unicorns.”
...or “1000 Points of Light” and “a Kinder and Gentler America”. At least I didn’t have to CRINGE during Trump’s speech, as I did during Bush’s 1988 “I hate Reagan” speech at that convention.
Stephy was 13 when Nixon left office and about 10 when Nixon last appeared before a nominating convention.
Amazing, isn't it? I suggested it's because they don't live in the real world. Another poster suggested it's because they profit from (paraphrasing) keeping the scam alive.
Note from the real world to the elite: It was a hopeful speech, because the problems have been identified, acknowledged, and now we can work together for solutions.
Exactly-it’s like the way they only notice the problem of homelessness when we have a Republican administration. It would seem that all the homeless find homes when a Democrat is in the White House. It’s so predictable. They’ve done it under every Republican administration I can remember.
I think Trump nailed it. Not one platitude, not one. And for all the media trying to say that he didn’t lay out wonky policy, that’s not what convention speeches are for. I mean, how quickly they forget-”hope’nchange” was a policy?
Can someone identify for me the music that was playing when Trump approached the podium?
