If Trump wins, a coup isn't impossible here in the U.S.

Americans viewing the recent failed coup attempt in Turkey as some exotic foreign news story -- the latest, violent yet hardly unusual political development to occur in a region constantly beset by turmoil -- should pause to consider that the prospect of similar instability would not be unfathomable in this country if Donald Trump were to win the presidency.

Any military leader who would just allow themselves to be "purged" without fighting back shouldn't be wearing the uniform anyway. They could have and should have blown the whistle on the crazy stuff this current set of political leaders have done. If they quietly and supinely allowed themselves to be retired, they didn't have the sand to stand up for themselves and what was right to begin with.
The troops are solid, as are most of the younger officers and NCOs. They would never go along with overthrowing the government or firing on their fellow citizens, period.
If you would think that, you don't have any contact with our service personnel.

What an utterly silly article. If there were to be a coup (typically military) it would have happened sometime after January 20, 2009.

Oh really? Blimpish swagger...does not, however, work in a liberal democracy, legally grounded by a written constitution, each branch restrained by separation of powers. LOL! Trump's not in office yet and the LA Times is in full worry mode about how he will govern. Meanwhile, not a peep from the Times as Obama serially ignores the Constitution and does everything he can to violate separation of powers!

I hope and pray you are correct in your assessment. I mostly agree with first point (government). However, I give a maybe on the second. At Wacco the military [illegally] assisted in the murder of American civilians, as an example.

Yeah, wow. Rizzo's cops were notorious for beat-downs. Still, an interesting story. Here's another one: more than once, I got away with smoking cigarettes in public transportation and restaurants back in the 70s in Philly!

Needs to be stripped of his citizenship, deported, jailed or worse for advocating the overthrow of the US Government..... hell we didn’t even promote such with Erkel Mugabe .... due process.

If Kirchick tries to instigate something like that with Trump in the WH, it will be time for us to make some leftoid heads roll.

Yes, I am sure the left has a few hundred thousand queer and LGBT soldiers who are willing to spill their own blood to revolt and lead a coup against Trump.
Lets see them ROLL!
Bring it! ( Crickets!)
Oh my, you mean LGBT soldiers support Trump? Imagine that!

If a coup is tried, every media outlet should be the first hit to protect the country and the protectors!! Or at least taken over and used for good.

Trump is probably the most liberal Republican nominee ever. This election is not about left vs. right/liberal vs. conservative/Republican vs. Democrat. It is about nationalist vs. globalist.

Unfortunately true. Many people regard Trump as a person with tyrannical tendencies (and Hillary likewise.) If that’s your worldview, a “Turkish event” is implicitly justified.
