[Vanity] On CNN - Ted Cruz Will Not Endorse Trump In Speech
CNN | July 19, 2016 | Pinkbell

Posted on 07/19/2016 11:45:20 PM PDT by Pinkbell

CNN had two different people on who said Ted Cruz will not be endorsing Cruz in his speech. The one reporter said that Ted Cruz anticipates running for President in 2020 if Trump loses and wants to show his sympathies with the Never Trump movement who has supported him.

This is just as I feared when Ted was asked to speak. Trump was kind enough to ask him, but I worried that Ted would use this speech to pad his own resume, to preach to his base, to audition for 2020. Ted should not be permitted to use this speech for his own ambitions.

Ted Cruz has allowed the Never Trump movement, with many of the members (at least the ones I see on Twitter) as Cruz supporters, to fester. He allowed the division and the attempts to free the delegates, ignoring the will of the people. That chaos on the floor the other day? Led by Cruz allies/delegates!

Ted Cruz has refused to honor a pledge that he signed, that he would have expected Trump to honor. Ted knows that his endorsement may encourage some of his supporters to vote for Trump. Ted also knows it might push some of his supporters away, the ones who would call it a betrayal. Ted is staying with the ones who would call it a betrayal.

If Ted is a true conservative, 4 years of Hillary and her stacking the court would be unthinkable. If Ted is a true Republican, he would want a Republican to win. It seems he is putting his political ambitions first. It's good for Ted Cruz (in his mind) if Trump doesn't win, but it's certainly not good for our country. I don't think it will be good for Ted either. He just doesn't realize now that 14 million Trump voters won't forget how he conducted himself.

Ted's spot should be revoked in an ideal world. Unfortunately, I think the media fallout if Trump revokes and party division with Cruz supporters who are reluctantly voting for Trump would be a problem at this point. He'll be allowed to speak, and I think he should have never been offered the slot.

Maybe CNN has absolutely blown this and will have egg on their face tomorrow. Maybe their sources will be wrong or maybe Ted will change his mind. If Ted does endorse Trump, I think opinions on him would improve.

Why is Cruz still lurking around here?

Someone with a malignant Messiah complex won't leave willingly.

I've been upset at Cruz for not endorsing, nor fulfilling his pledge. Actually, on occasion, I've been over the top angry.

I think you make a good point, this may have been cleverly scripted; if he does come out and give a blockbuster endorsement, it will be the final nail in the #nevertrump idiocy. It also makes sense for the political future of Cruz.

I hope you are right, we shall see tonight.

No, I was referring to Paul Ryan.

Cruz “I say what I mean and mean what I say”. Didn’t he sign the RNC pledge?

Shame on him. LIAR.

Shame on Kasich. He would have accomplished more (of his agenda) to be host of the convention and would have been able to talk about his views on immigration, etc. Now he looks like a spoiled 8 yr. old.

FOLLOW THE MONEY . You can bet Kasich is getting money from pro-amnesty and muslim groups.

I doubt it was out of kindness. I assume Trump and Manafort know what they're doing, and leave it at that.

“If Trump loses due to #nevertrump, there’s no chance Trump supporters will support Cruz”

If Trump is not inaugurated as POTUS, there won’t be another election, because there won’t be an America; we’ll be just like any other second-rate dictatorship.

If he doesn't endorse he is dead to me and chalked up as another disappointment - along with Lee.

Funny how what we considered to be two of the staunchest Conservatives are so eager to tell the People to take a hike and then act like petty, just reaching adolescence, teenage girls who consider themselves wrongly spurned.....

LOL, I must still be half asleep. Of course you were. If he got assurance of backing by the Republican Party, he most assuredly would run as a 3rd party or independent candidate.

How many marriage oaths has Trump broken? Are we gonna vote for Trump knowing that God has promised to destroy the work of his hands?

This won’t get posted since the mods are babysitting me to keep me from saying anything the censors don’t like. FR is an echo chamber. I’ll take Trump over Hillary any day of the week but you people here sound brainwashed and the venom is not helping anybody. If there was one reason I’d sit out the election it is because Freepers have convinced me that the US public deserves what it would get under Hillary.

I expect Cruz to play up the social issues. That is one sure way to keep independents and crossover democrats from voting for Trump. Ted and the other Never Trumps want Trump to lose. They don’t care about our country. Social conservatives who will stay home or vote for Hillary don’t understand that if Hillary wins, social issue reforms will be off the table forever.

If Trump broke marriage oaths it’s news to me. Who knows what broke up two of his marriages? Women initiate divorce more than men. And as far as I’ve heard, Trump’s not a cheater. So what are you referring to? Reagan was married more than once too, if I recall.
