[Vanity] On CNN - Ted Cruz Will Not Endorse Trump In Speech
CNN | July 19, 2016 | Pinkbell

Posted on 07/19/2016 11:45:20 PM PDT by Pinkbell

CNN had two different people on who said Ted Cruz will not be endorsing Cruz in his speech. The one reporter said that Ted Cruz anticipates running for President in 2020 if Trump loses and wants to show his sympathies with the Never Trump movement who has supported him.

This is just as I feared when Ted was asked to speak. Trump was kind enough to ask him, but I worried that Ted would use this speech to pad his own resume, to preach to his base, to audition for 2020. Ted should not be permitted to use this speech for his own ambitions.

Ted Cruz has allowed the Never Trump movement, with many of the members (at least the ones I see on Twitter) as Cruz supporters, to fester. He allowed the division and the attempts to free the delegates, ignoring the will of the people. That chaos on the floor the other day? Led by Cruz allies/delegates!

Ted Cruz has refused to honor a pledge that he signed, that he would have expected Trump to honor. Ted knows that his endorsement may encourage some of his supporters to vote for Trump. Ted also knows it might push some of his supporters away, the ones who would call it a betrayal. Ted is staying with the ones who would call it a betrayal.

If Ted is a true conservative, 4 years of Hillary and her stacking the court would be unthinkable. If Ted is a true Republican, he would want a Republican to win. It seems he is putting his political ambitions first. It's good for Ted Cruz (in his mind) if Trump doesn't win, but it's certainly not good for our country. I don't think it will be good for Ted either. He just doesn't realize now that 14 million Trump voters won't forget how he conducted himself.

Ted's spot should be revoked in an ideal world. Unfortunately, I think the media fallout if Trump revokes and party division with Cruz supporters who are reluctantly voting for Trump would be a problem at this point. He'll be allowed to speak, and I think he should have never been offered the slot.

Maybe CNN has absolutely blown this and will have egg on their face tomorrow. Maybe their sources will be wrong or maybe Ted will change his mind. If Ted does endorse Trump, I think opinions on him would improve.

Cruz can’t affordto lose Glen Beck. It’s all he’s got at tbis point.

Cruz and his bots know Cruz’s 15 minutes of fame are up.
That he is damaged goods, which explains the scorched earth strategy
on the way out.

People on the Right have looooong memories. I predice all the sore losers and Never Trumpers are going to have a hard time with the Base from here on out.

I hope the first casualty is Paul Ryan at his primary next month. That would certainly send a message. Of course, if Ryan loses, I wouldn’t put it past him to run as an Independent or switch parties.

He might if Trump is unpopular. If Trump is a good President, it would be pointless.

Pointless? You're thinking like a rational person, which Cruz is not.

Neither was Kennedy in 1980.

I hope he is roundly booed at the convention by the delegates, but even if he isn’t his career is dead. He will lose reelection and his bid for the Presidency will be even worse than this time around. Guaranteed. I know I will never vote for ted Cruz. #NeverCruz

I hope you are right. Unfortunately there will always be a contingent of Cruz cult members here on FR.

No 3rd party candidate for President ever won. I predict Cruz will lose his reelection bid for the Senate. I hope another Republican, primaries him when his Senate term comes up.

Lyin’ Ted is a pathetic joke. His foot stomping, breath holding tantrums since losing are embarrassing. He has proven himself to be nothing more than a petulant child with a whiny voice. He will never be president.

Implicit in your post is the assumption that Cruz will be acceptable by the Republican party in 2020. He and his are demonstrating that a run as an independent conservative is the default course that must be followed.

The mutual disdain means Cruz will not only never be president, he will never even run as a real candidate with any chance of winning

Early on, I predicted that Trump would offer Cruz a deal in their meeting. Cruz turned it down and then lost and then really lost.

By coming to Jesus, endorsing Trump, becoming part of the effort to make America Great Again, Cruz can be redeemed. Otherwise, Cruz is a pariah.

Far less than when he originally announced. Many here have seen Ted Cruz for the phony that he really is. I would say that maybe 30% of those who once supported him still do, and I honestly think I am being overly generous with that percentage. I suspect his speech will pare that percentage down even more, as they will come to the realization that it is all about him, and not the country. The majority of people do not stand by self serving individuals.

The other speakers have set the bar so high that he will come across as a dud. He may get good if he goes too far.

Pray America wakes

Granted that no 3rd party candidate for President ever won; any rational person would accept that fact. Cruz of course, being a malignant narcissist, is incapable of accepting reality. Should the Republican venue be locked to him, he'll try 3rd Party, perhaps by wooing the Conservative or the Constitution Party to see if they'd be willing to take him on (woe to them if they do).

To back up your post, there are Cruz supporters in this article that want Cruz to get behind Trump. Don’t know if they were in the #NeverTrump movement though.

Glenn Beck! LOL! That’s his last hope. They had him on some show the other day bemoaning Trump. I turned him off. It’s one thing when our nominee is attacked by Democrats. I accept it and expect it. It’s another when it’s our own.
