WaPo: The continuing political decline of Hillary Clinton (she's dropping like a rock in the polls)
Washington Post ^ | July 18, 2016 | Aaron Blake

Posted on 07/19/2016 6:19:44 AM PDT by Zakeet

If it weren't for Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton would be the most disliked major-party presidential nominee in recent American history.

That qualifier, of course, is important here. Clinton doesn't need to be liked; she needs to be liked slightly more than Trump in what will very likely boil down to a two-candidate race.

But it's hard to overstate just how bad Clinton's numbers are. And a new Washington Post-ABC News poll is the latest to suggest they just keep getting worse — so much so that they are in some ways about as bad as Trump's.

The poll shows 54 percent of all Americans have an unfavorable view of Clinton and 44 percent have a "strongly unfavorable" view of her. When you boil it down just to registered voters, those numbers tick up to 57 percent and 47 percent, respectively.

Either way you slice it, Clinton's image is as bad or worse than it has ever been.

[Snip]

But while Trump has certainly struggled, he seems to have leveled off and maybe even improved a bit in recent months.

Clinton, meanwhile, is trending worse and worse and flirting with Trumpian levels of negative feelings.

She has avoided having news conferences for months. All of her communicated has been scripted, and she takes no questions. She will not debate. She knows that she cannot answer anything without stumbling.

Hilary will NEVER debate Trump. She’ll make it seem like the fault of someone else or some event, but she will not ever debate

And, there’s nothing positive voters can learn about her. She’s peaked. All of her “accomplishments” have be laid out (and the list is not impressive). She’s been in the public for decades. Nobody’s opinion will improve even if they haven’t paid any attention for the last year.

Trump looks better every time he goes a week without “saying something offensive or stupid”. Not that supporters found things offensive or stupid but that’s been the attack and he can counter it easily by “being presidential”. Every time he names an “experienced adviser” or modifies a policy based on their advice he looks less authoritarian and more able to do the job. And there are a lot of positives in his background that most people don’t know. Unlike Hillary he can change voters’ opinions and go up.

Hillary’s only chance is to go VERY negative and destroy Trump. Which is one of the problems some voters have with her so even that’s a hard campaign to succeed with - attacking Trump like she attacked Bills Bimbos will just remind us of her efforts against Bills Bimbos.

Queen Hillary doesn’t care about polls.

If she is above the law, then what is to stop her from cheating?

The Democrats sense of fair play?

Hahahahahahahahahahaha!

All hail Queen Hillary! Queen of the United States of Rodham!

You serfs and your serf-children and serf-grandchildren better get in line.

“There will be no debates.

She would have to be absolutely insane to get on the same stage with Trump.”

That won’t fly with Americans, and even the RATS, in the teeny recesses for what used to once pass for brains, must know that. There will be debates, of course. Trump will be lit as if he just came out of The Exorcist. Hillary, sporting 47 new pounds of makeup and newly botoxed, will be filmed through soft gauze. The audience will be split between Republicans and Democrats - but, of course, it’ll be the GOP-e, who will join the Democrats in booing every word out of Trump’s mouth (including “good evening”). Hillary will be asked what it feels like to be the smartest woman ever to have lived. Trump will be sneered at and asked to explain how he’s managed to steal, abuse, lie and corrupt the system for every moment he’s been alive (including infancy). The focus groups will tell us it’s all over and 100% of the people who used to be for Trump now back Hillary. This will be followed by an hour-long Hillary “documentary” explaining, once again, how she’s the smartest woman alive and the natural successor to the amazing eight years of growth and prosperity we’ve known under Barack Hussein Obama who, it will be explained, is rounded proclaimed by everyone on both sides to be not only the greatest President, but perhaps the greatest human being to have ever lived.

Oh, yeah. There’ll be debates.

Rounded (above) = roundly. Didn’t mean to imply that Barack Hussein Obama is fat (except his head, of course).

I wonder if Comey’s actions were more an up yours to Lynch who may have told him to send it up here so we can decide not to prosecute. Given those orders and the history of FBI reports not having a recommendation go with them, I wonder if he figured he would go public with his non recommendation but lay out the actual indictment he believed was supported. Just a thought and probably wrong but such passive aggressive style is expected could be playing out here.

Absolutely agree.

There is no upside for Hillary to engage in any debate.

Actually, I have been thinking so and saying so for many months.

A debate would destroy her.

Most years the political conventions are relatively useless for the average voter. This year could be different. It will be interesting to see if Trump’s negatives go down this week as he gets to tell his side of the story directly to America without undue media spin.

Equally interesting will be America’s reaction to Hillary during the Democrat convention. Will Americans see how unauthentic she is? Will they see how arrogant she is? So far, the more people see of Hillary the less they like her. How will she fair after of week of constant attention?

It would be neat if you could get that with the optional green handle.

Just to spiff it up a bit.

I agree that he was meeting what he was told to do by someone (not recommend prosecution), but felt he needed to get in his opinion about her guilt.

That dais ploy musta given voters the heebie jeebies.

She will refused to debate him and blame it on him. His tone, his character, his rudeness, blah, blah, blah. She’ll try to turn it into an attack against him to get out of it.

What if the PO is wrong and the people don’t hate Trump as much as the Establishmedia do?

Pray America wakes

Trump’s negatives are different than Hillary’s. People love him and love to hate him.

Hillary is just a plain hateful person. People honestly dislike her.

I concur, she will not debate Trump unless it is in some seriously controlled environment, where she has been given the questions a week in advance, and the moderator is on the take.

She won’t show up to a an un-fixed fight.

0 won two elections for himself but when he goes out campaigning for others his mojo disappears (see 2010,2014).
