Newt Gingrich spoke with Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren live from Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena on Day One of the RNC convention Monday night. At the beginning of their conversation, they addressed the controversy around who is and who isn’t present at the convention as the Republican Party gets ready to crown Donald Trump their 2016 nominee.
At least one speaker, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), has yet to endorse the GOP nominee. Susteren asked Gingrich if he believed Trump’s former presidential opponent would finally announce his support for Trump during his speech Wednesday night.
“Well I hope he does” endorse him, Gingrich said.
If he doesn’t?
“I think it’ll be sad,” Gingrich said. “It’ll be a betrayal.”
Considering Cruz is getting ready to head back to the Senate, Gingrich argued it would be in Cruz’s best interests to be on Trump’s good side.
“He knows it’s helpful to Trump that he’s here,” he said. “At the same time, he’s going back to the Senate. This is a significant step in this direction."
As for Ohio Gov. John Kasich and his staff, who have refused to attend this week’s convention, Gingrich said they “seem to be in their own world.”
Same here. He makes me sick with his lies and hypocrisy.

I’m thinking that’s true, if we’re both thinking cubanadian heritage. Or at least the opposition will make sure it’s true. He would be buried in a prez campaign.

I mentioned this in phase one of the primary. My husband’s cousin and I were stuck in traffic together. She is well-to-do, retired and active in her church. Her family goes back over five generations in Houston area. She said in speaking abt candidates that three different acquaintances and friends had said that their respective family members had worked in the legal arena with Cruz. All three had fiercely rejected Cruz over his personality, arrogance, likability. She is a reliable source and I trusted her word on this. Seeing his behavior it seems what she was told was 100% correct.

I am still miffed that Calgary Ted failed to mention the fact that he was a Canadian citizen when he ran for the Senate in Texas in 2012. I keep hearing that Cruz is trying to set himself up for 2020 but I think maybe he should think more about 2018. I don’t foresee myself voting for the Canadian again in 2018. I wonder if that is just me?
No, you are wrong. Conservatives are not liars and back-stabbers. Therefore, Cruz is not a conservative.

People do not seem to understand that we are on the precipice. And Donald Trump cannot save this country alone. We need major reversals in policy. We need major reversals in government programs and spending. We need major reversals in public attitudes. And we need major reversals in our support for the military. Even then we are going to need Gods help if our nation is to survive.
But you are absolutely correct that “If Hillary gets elected, the country is over FOREVER.” She will absolutely destroy whatever chance that we have to survive.
