Officers were justified in their shooting of Alton Sterling during a confrontation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, according to a police report on the incident. That shooting resulted in Sterling's death, which alongside the police-involved shooting of Philando Castile near St. Paul, Minnesota, triggered nationwide protests. From CNN:
In a search warrant affidavit seeking surveillance video from the store, [where police responded to a call about a man threatening another man with a gun,] Detective R. Cook wrote that the Baton Rouge officers deployed their Tasers after Sterling did not comply with their orders.
"While the officers were attempting to subdue the subject the officers observed the butt of a gun in the subject's front pants pocket," Cook wrote.
"When the subject attempted to reach for the gun from his pockets the officers fired their police issued duty weapon at the subject to stop the threat. The subject was shot multiple times and did not survive his injuries."
In recent days, the anti-cop crowd has has called for police officers to be trained in non-lethal deescalation techniques, whatever those are. Shooting a bad guy who reaches for a gun is the best deescalation technique known. It has the virtue of proving non-lethal to those tasked with protecting the public.

And just so I hopefully get understood the way I intended (whether or not you agree) ... I see in your story, getting caught in the crosshairs of just that kind of hypocrisy. It sickens me. But rest assured it sickens God too. And He’s not going to put up with it forever. In the meantime that doesn’t mean we still can’t get the attitude of the Savior.
And to think, if not for Democrats coaching people like Sterling to believe he was above the law and need not comply with directions from law enforcement - he’d likely be alive today.
Just like police in Minnesota, knowingly pulled over a guy with a long arrest record, who matched the description of an ARMED robbery suspect —
and unbelievably, not only was he armed, but had the gun up on his lap (where everyone who owns a gun, keeps it!).
They then approached his car with their guns drawn, and demanded to see his license & registration at gunpoint. (as happens to everyone but whites & asians).
Aside from refuse to comply with simple directions to keep his hands still and refrain from reaching for anything? You mean?
Do you believe the police approached him with guns drawn, to demand his (suspended) license and (unlikely) car registration?
That they demanded his information at gunpoint?
When the officer in Lavish’s live-stream, can be heard shouting “I TOLD HIM not to reach for anything.”
Good old Mr. Phil, didn’t think even at gunpoint, that he should simply follow a simple direction to keep his hands up? After 53 other traffic stops?
So many stories and variations are bouncing around that there is no clear picture.
There is a glimpse of what “might” be a gun. Contradictory stories are going around as to whether he had a CCW. His “gang” affiliation is on Facebook and has a small set of members... do Crips or Bloods normally say anything about it on Facebook?
The ultimate facts may be anything but obvious. Sarcasm is confounded here in the face of that situation.
Those other stops were all in the same circumstances of suspicion? I think not.
Believe what you want. Sarcasm is as good as any sad whiny crybaby stories about law enforcement abusers.
Carry on!
Well then, it is no good at all... right?
No worries...you had me at “C. S. Lewis”
God bless,
- Megan
And the worst thing to be a sycophant of, “unsycophant”?
Yourself.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
So much for your evangelistic approach. LOL. Next!
Oh, some WILL reject. God is then the one that says to them, “NEXT!”
What did you expect, getting kissed up to? Please explain what you had in mind, if you dare.
I think I’m going to wait until the evidence is out, before jumping to any commissions.
I’m sorry you were treated like that and had a tough childhood. I, nor the guys/gals I worked with, would never have treated people like that and it is wrong. I don’t see and have not seen searches like that. However, if a parolee is on parole (in leiu of being in jail) and subject to search that is legal - especially if they are still using drugs because they are still committing crimes to support their drug habits (unless they are independently wealthy). If not on parole you don’t give up your rights and kids unfortunately get caught up in that when the parents can’t behave. I have never heard of a child being searched at school - that is pretty strange.
It would be just as inappropriate for you to judge me because of my occupation as it would be for me to judge you because of who your parents were or where you lived. That was my point. It’s like a fast food restaurant or chain restaurants - you can have a favorite, but every so often you eat at one somewhere that is awful or the service stinks, but that does not mean every restaurant in the chain is like that. That is how people work - most are okay, a few suck, and every so often even the okay ones have a bad day. This is true for everyone regardless of any category they may fit.
When we reach a point where people paint with broad brushes - especially when it furthers an agenda or political goal - we all lose.
