Ike was a disaster as a Republican. It took 40 YEARS to recover from the damage he did to the party as President.

Why on earth would Trump pick a DEMOCRAT General for VP ?

Sessions is my pick too, but I do agree with those who say we need him in the Senate.

There are some GREAT VP choices:

Govs. LePage (ME), McCrory (NC), Abbott (TX) and Sens. Sessions (AL) and Cruz (TX).

[”If Trump offers the position and is serious about it...”]

TRUMP:”Newt, I’ve reached my decision and I would like you to be my running mate, are you interested”?

NEWT:”Are you really serious”?

TRUMP:”I WAS until you asked that”

FReepers are now lobbying for a Democrat VP. I am still waiting to hear how he lines up on any conservative issue besides national security. If he’s liberal on all the rest of the issues, then you now have a Democrat a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

Trump MUST select somebody DIVERESE like a woman.

The Republican Party must try to show it is balanced.

The masses today need to see DIVERSITY albeit Conservative or Republican but it must break away from the traditional mold if it hopes to win in November.

Why was Ike a disaster beyond that he picked earl warren for supreme court justice.

that was bad but nearlyevery republican since him has made the same kind of numb nuts mistake.

and we still have not recovered.

“At his rallies, Trump often mentions Eisenhower.”

Trump needs someone who is a bit less stiff than Eisenhower.

I am not joking 100%. If Trump puts Newt as No. 2 he will not win the election. Trump needs to garner the support or win back the support of women, they are a crucial factor in elections.

I still think Newt has already been offered another position within a Trump administration. This is just window dressing designed to keep the media busy speculating on the VP choice, and for Trump to have a little fun messing with their heads. The VP choice was probably made weeks ago.

I’ll go along with your thoughts.

I don’t think anybody lobbies to be VP

Gingrich is too old, and has too much Clinton era baggage.

Yes,
If Trump picks Gingrich he will regret it. The liberal/dim press will have a field day reviving Newt's baggage.
I like a lot about Newt but not the idea of his being picked as VP.

>>The Republican Party must try to show it is balanced.<<

It did during the primary. We don't need to cow tow to the liberals. We need strong leaders and we shouldn't tailor them so people will like us. That's total PC Bull$4!7.

During the primary we had white, black, female, two hispanics, chubby yankee, Libertarian, globalist oligarch, homosexual, democrat from Ohio.

Pretty wide swath of America don’tcha think? Now, lets move on with strong unabashed leaders, even if they both happen to be white. Oh...the horror.

There are certainly concerns with any prospective veep candidate, and Gingrich has as many or more concerns as any of the others.

HOWEVER, I would love to see Gingrich REDEFINE the role of President of the Senate. And I’m pretty sure he’d do so.
