It's a shame that Sarah Palin got destroyed by the media as she would have been a great VP pick for Trump. It also didn't help that her children did her wrong with their various hijinks. Poorly timed hijinks at that. It seemed every time Sarah was about to get back on her feet, one of her children would do something to humiliate her again and put her family back in the tabloids - the seedy section of the tabloids.

One thing Donald Trump doesn't get enough credit for is how well his children turned out. As a parent myself who was also blessed with great children who never gave me a problem and turned into productive adults, I get to thinking why this parenting thing doesn't work out so well for others. Sarah and her husband seem like my kind of people - what the hell happened to the kids?

How about Donald Trump Jr. or Ivanka Trump for VP.

Keep it in the family.

I know neither is a NBC, but after Cruz, Rubio, Jindal, and Barry, that doesn't matter.

1 “Adams, Adams/Roosevelt, Roosevelt/Bush, Bush” – Note that none of those had their relatives who were later were elected as POTUS, serve as their VP. Between the terms of John Adams and John Quincy Adams, there was Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and James Monroe. Between Theodore Roosevelt and Franklin D. Roosevelt, there was William Howard Taft, Woodrow Wilson, Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge and Herbert Hoover. Teddy R and FDR were distantly related – 5th cousins. Not to mention that Theodore was a Republican and Franklin a Democrat. Of course we know the relationship between GHWB and GWB but regardless of what we think of either of them or their legacies, GWB was a better alternative than Al Gore.

2 I don’t know about Donald Jr. but Ivanka is not registered as a Republican and while she claims to be an “independent” she has a voting and political contribution history that shows she’s even more prone to supporting Democrats in the recent past than her father was. Ivanka is from what I understand very liberal and one of her best friend’s FWIW is Chelsey Clinton.

3 While it is a common misconception that the US Constitution bars the President and Vice President being from the same State, however, the 12th Amendment does say that electors may not vote for a President from their state and a Vice President also from their state.

4 “The commiecRATs want Clinton, Clinton, Clinton So what's your problem with Trump, Trump”. - I certainly don’t want Clinton part II or Clinton part III. But I also don’t want a Trump/Trump ticket either. I’ve seen that floated around here before and it is 1) a fantasy; 2) Trump needs someone with legislative experience and a knowlege of how congress works if he expects to pass the legislation he wants 3) it would never fly; 4) would set a very bad precedent (having the son or daughter of the POTUS serve as their father’s VP) and 5) I thought that Trump has said he intends to turn over his business to his children to run, it mostly falling to Ivanka who seems to have the most business savy, while he presumably is elected POTUS.

I agree that Newt has many admirable qualities... but bottom line, I just think his electability will seriously hurt the ticket....

I agree with ConservativeDude.

Newt is a good guy and should definitely be on Trump’s close WH staff.

But he is NOT the person for VP and definitely WILL damage Trump’s chances of winning the election.

I like Newt, but I'd probably go along with nearly anybody he chose with the exception of the GUN GRABBING FAT PIG Chris Christie. That TOAD said the only reason he got into politics was to pass more gun control. And as a governor of one of the worst gun control states in the union, aside from a couple of recent pardons there is little if any movement by him to roll back the DRACONIAN gun laws in that state. What say you guys?

I don’t think it will be Pence. I honestly don’t have a feel for who he ultimately will be the one. I do think Trump would benefit from someone with a military background which would be the key trait if I were leading the search.

The person should not be afraid to be outspoken but should not be known for bombast. Trump is the star and he doesn’t need a distraction. He also needs someone who can talk on their feet and has proven themselves able to deal with the press. The person should also be someone that can command respect from across conservativdom. He needs someone who can help him get solid endorsements from those like Cruz who are still butthurt and need a push to get on the train.

I suspect he will go with a woman who has those qualities. It makes sense. Its the area he needs the most help in and a woman pick will help take away Hillary’s “woman’s card”. I don’t think he will pick a Bush era lightningrod option like Rice. People always suggest her but while I think she did a fine job she would carry all that Bush era baggage.

I’ll wait and see. Right now Trump is building the suspense up. I don’t think we will be disappointed.

I’m getting a creeped out feeling that the GOPe has forced all possible contenders, except Newt, to just say no.

I fear that Newt is the only one who is going to accept the VP spot.

I also fear that Newt just brings all of the wrong optics, and the wrong message to the ticket. I think that well over 50% of the American electorate absolutely despise Newt. We all don’t...but we don’t have the votes.
