MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- Bloodied and bruised Hannah Cohen was led from Memphis International Airport in handcuffs.

The 19-year old was headed home to Chattanooga after treatment for a brain tumor at St. Jude Hospital June 30, 2015.

It's a trip they've made for 17 years.

This time, an unarmed Hannah, set off the metal detector at a security checkpoint

“They wanted to do further scanning, she was reluctant, she didn't understand what they were about to do," said her mother Shirley Cohen.

Cohen told us she tried to tell TSA agents her daughter is partially deaf, blind in one eye, paralyzed, and easily confused, but said she was kept at a distance by police.

“She's trying to get away from them but in the next instant, one of them had her down on the ground and hit her head on the floor. There was blood everywhere,” said Cohen.

Haven’t flow for 12 years. Last time I flew I got so enraged at the treatment I knew that if I ever flew again I’d wind up in jail.

It’s my observation that most TSA employees are ghetto-types fresh off the welfare rolls, and their job gives them power over Whitey.

I have only been on private craft since the TSA has been in existence. I will not submit.
That goes for Allah, too.

This isn’t a care issue. It is a silliness issue. The TSA is 99% OK, given what it is. It should never have been created for sure and it sure is dopey but it is a necessary evil. They HAVE responded to public outrage, just slowly.

Bullshit. They should never have become another arm of the federal police force.

What shortcuts do YOU use to circumvent the lines and the excessive hassle?

I’ve gone through TSA, maybe not 1,000 times, but pretty close. Haven’t had many problems. A couple of weeks ago I did see a guy getting a pat down - or whatever they call it. I have to say I felt embarrassed for him. The TSA guy had his hands way up there way too long. It was bad. It was wrong.

Any other day I would have been mad as hell, and probably arrested for kicking him while he was reaching to where he had no business.

As it was, my guardian angel put me in a good, light hearted mood that day, something out of the ordinary for me when facing down these devils, and so I just laughed.

My life might very well been badly altered that day, instead it’s just a funny incident to remember.

How the heck do you travel internationally outside the Americas? Do you drive a submarine?

The name of the victim is Cohen, Hannah Cohen. The name of the agents who assaulted her are not given.

That is the best attitude.

What is not said is most Memphis LEO are black they want it that way, prerequisite of the job. It’s very hard for whites to get on the Force, and even harder to make rank. Dems control Memphis and now Shelby Co. You must live in Memphis to be on the city payroll.

Agreed. Now what? Complaining about the TSA is like complaining about the IRS. They exist. They are a hassle. There are many incompetents. We can and should continue to call for their breakup back to the private pre-911 system. Until then, there they are.

The decision not to fly is just plain silly. It is like saying you won’t earn money b/c the IRS may audit you.

It is self-limiting and hurts no one except you

>>What shortcuts do YOU use to circumvent the lines and the excessive hassle?<<

Global Entry, travel light, slip on shoes, plastic belts, know what not to pack in my carry on, wear a travel vest with many pockets and any other shortcuts I have picked up in 3 million miles.

Mostly pack a positive and patient attitude.

"Necessary Evil!?"

No, this was just a way for the government to create yet another public sector union from which to garner votes and collect contributions.

If you will remember, after 9/11 they took the existing staff of "security guards" (people who couldn't quite meet the rigorous employment standards necessary to work at Mickey D's) and turned them into federal employees.

Stupid in, stupid out.

I think people are not understanding my point. I agree the TSA was a bad idea, badly executed on top of that. I agree we should go back to the pre-9/11 privatization and adopt the El Al playbook.

So what?

The TSA exists and if you want to fly, you must submit to its gentle ministrations (that was sarcasm).

Therefore it is a necessary evil that must be dealt with. Children stomp their feet and limit their own options. Adults Deal With It.

And the case at hand may fit the desired “TSA=evil” narrative but we have very few facts to come o that conclusion and I counsel caution until they do.

No, I don’t drive a sub.

As I told freedumb2003, I drive, even if it takes two days to get there.

I haven’t gone outside the US since 1996.

I’ve no desire to go to Europe or Asia.

The last time I went overseas was to Scotland in 1996.

Driving the 1440 miles from Texas to L.A. can be done in two days.

I’ve done it a number of times.

To New York City is 1547 miles; haven’t made that run yet.

To Toronto is 1414 miles; I could drive there and take a plane from there if I wanted to go to europe.

Last week I found the UK “TSA” far more intrusive than the US, although I do have Precheck and Global Entry for the US.
The joke was it was a Brit muzzie going through my underwear, LOL.

I worked in Toronto for about a year — commuted back the States weekly. The CBP is just as bad as TSA — maybe worse.

Maybe Mexico will work or you?
