Fragments of an ancient Greek text telling of an invasion of Greece by the Goths during the third century A.D. have been discovered in the Austrian National Library. The text includes a battle fought at the pass of Thermopylae.
Researchers used spectral imaging to enhance the fragments, making it possible to read them. The analysis suggests the fragments were copied in the 11th century A.D. and are from a text that was written in the third-century A.D. by an Athens writer named Dexippus.

Publius Herennius Dexippus or Dexippos was born about A.D. 210, according to the article about him by Rudolf Hanslik in Der Kleine Pauly. He was a member of the Athenian family of the Kerykes (Heralds), so from of very elite ancestry. He was "agonothete" at the Panathenaea of A.D. 262, then eponymous archon. He fought against the Heruli in 267. He wrote a history in 12 books from the earliest times to A.D. 269/70. He appears to have imitated Thucydides.

Hey, excellent ping list name idea, but I’m not runnin’ it, da**it! If this is a new topic, I will say, I think we had a topic about this a month or so ago. Adding, not pinging, probably. Thanks Pollster1.
