I agree.
And they will use cases like this to “prove” all transfers must only be approved after a background check.
Mom had history of mental illness, multiple suicide attempts, cops called on several occasions. It was past time to get the guns out of the house.
At this point, it isn't about supporting the 2nd Amendment, RKBA, freedom, whatnot. It's about making a calculated decision that the greater threat comes not from outside the home but from someone who lives there.
And everyone in the house dismissed their fears and uncomfortable feelings about mom because they didn’t want to hurt her feelings or set her off again, after all she’d never shot them before during one of her episodes.
Normalcy bias kills.
What about when momma’s bat-sh*t crazy?
More details emerging:

Other articles are saying the older daughter was going to get married this weekend.
Oh my :(
Huffin her bath salts can do that.....
(AP article so only high points)
Mother applied for license to carry the gun used to murder daughter but was DENIED. No time line or specifics, but based on her mental health history, we can guess.
Mother did not like daughter's fiance. Wanted to ground her so she could not see/marry boyfriend.
Despite the often cited reconciliation, there was a divorce in the works.
The story is old & fading fast from the front page. The agenda driven narrative is still along the lines of gun-toting mom murders daughters with very gun she declared no one would take away her right to defend her daughters with a firearm. The details which offer a glimpse into the true story are hidden at the end or almost added as a casual, ‘oh, by the way.’
It is not fair for anyone to say what someone should have done. There is no such animal as normal, because normal for these families is an emotional turmoil which has defined their lives for what seems like forever. For the rest of the family, it is about emotional survival. Don't set mom off has nothing to do with mom's feelings, but avoiding yet another episode of hell on earth.
Forgot to add, one article which (cannot find right now) claimed she almost shot her own father that day. He made it into a neighbor’s house.
Can’t verify it & have seen no other reference about her father on the scene.
I saw that article but it seems to have been the only one stating that fact,
I don’t actually “wear” a gun around the house, but I can sure “find” one in a hurry if necessary.
