French PM: Europe must stop being finicky and intrusive

The European Union must stop being nit-picky and intrusive, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said on Sunday as the bloc scrambled to handle the aftermath of Britain's vote to leave.

The Brexit vote to leave the EU has deepened fears among mainstream politicians across Europe about the rise of eurosceptic, anti-establishment parties, particularly in France, where the far-right National Front is increasingly popular.

That concern has also prompted mainstream French politicians on the left and right to call for an overhaul of Europe, in a country where surveys show disillusionment with Brussels is growing.

"We must put an end to this sad and finicky Europe. Too often it is intrusive on details and desperately absent on what's essential," Valls said. "We must break away from the dogma of ever more Europe. Europe must act not by principle but when it is useful and pertinent."

Former President Nicolas Sarkozy echoed those sentiments. "Europe cannot continue to build itself against the people," he said.

Doesn't look good for the One-Worlders.

They now sit among each other listening to Lennon's Imagine and drinking $500 wine.

Lamenting the loss of the good ol days.

Government, any government, can’t help but be nit-picky and intrusive.

The more layers of government people have over them, the more helpless they are in preventing it.

Boggles the mind that anybody would continue to want Europe to disintegrate under the weight of socialism and forced immigration, immigration of the very enemies of the countries that are forced to receive them.

The question is, "what's in it for the globalists?" What was in it for Jorge Busho and company?

If anyone at all does not know the answer to that question, there is one reason for not knowing.

And only one.

No other reasons are plausible.

They don't want to know.

They should go back to the Common Market arrangement.

They may have overplayed their hand. The system was not in good shape before, but flooding the zone with invaders is not a sustainable policy.

It’s a rhetorical question. Just follow the money. Always follow the money.

Really, really interesting comments.

If they had given Cameron some better deals when he went to negotiate a few months ago this whole Brexit would not have occurred.

Perhaps they are now working out that Cameron and the UK were correct about the over-reach of Brussels?

So now the French get to criticize somebody else for being too finicky and intrusive. Sweet!

Too often it is intrusive on details and desperately absent on what's essential," Valls said. "We must break away from the dogma of ever more Europe. Europe must act not by principle but when it is useful and pertinent."

And how would you accomplish that? The nature of bureaucracies is to grow and accumulate power and control. Create a bureaucracy with control over 28 nations, and expect each of those 28 nations to lose power and control to the bureaucracy. That's why Brexit passed - Britain's own bureaucracy of course also has the same impulse toward power and control, but it's at least nominally under the control of British politicians elected by British voters. That is simply not the case in the EU, where Brussels-based bureaucrats from Germany or Italy can decide an issue for a British citizen.

Government, any government, can’t help but be nit-picky and intrusive.

True enough, it's what they do.

Still, the eurocrats have honed it to a fine edge.

Calling anyone who disagreed with their plans a racist xenophobe was probably not a good call either. They turned up the heat on the frog too quickly.

Money and power trumps the survival and well being of their country. It's called TREASON.
