The number of non-Defense Department federal officers authorized to make arrests and carry firearms (200,000) now exceeds the number of U.S. Marines (182,000). In its escalating arms and ammo stockpiling, this federal arms race is unlike anything in history. Over the last 20 years, the number of these federal officers with arrest-and-firearm authority has nearly tripled to over 200,000 today, from 74,500 in 1996.

The report catalogs federal purchases of guns, ammunition and military-style equipment by seemingly bureaucratic federal agencies. During a nine-year period through 2014, we found, 67 agencies unaffiliated with the Department of Defense spent $1.48 billion on guns and ammo. Of that total, $335.1 million was spent by agencies traditionally viewed as regulatory or administrative, such as the Smithsonian Institution and the U.S. Mint.

If one were to audit the non military agencies that requested and received weapons, I wonder how many have gone out the back door and can no longer be accounted?
The budget of DHS is twice that of the Marine Corps.
Because if you are white, male and conservative and won’t give them your money, they will come and kill you. It’s that simple.

The EPA actually needs military firearms to combat those horrific beavers that indiscriminately cut down out wonderful trees for nothing more than food and shelter...Not to mention the CO2 bombers known as Holstein, Angus, and Jersey...

The IRS needs guns because this government thinks people who don’t pay their “fair share” of taxes are more dangerous than ISIS terrorists.
I don’t think there is a specific reason all these alphabet agencies have guns other than a symbolic one, that is, to send a message to the serfs that (the IRS, in this case) are their overlords and to resist or fail to comply can and will result in bodily harm.
‘Course that won’t have any teeth unless and until all of our guns are confiscated. Ain’t gonna happen.
I worry about the couple of billion hollow points DHS is keeping.

So when they come for me they have a fighting chance.
Obama will have his civlian army in place when he declares a state of emergency and suspends the elections. Known conservatives (such as Freepers) and other “undesireables” will be arrested.
The military will do nothing as Obama has already purged the “disloyal” generals and only the yes men remain at the Pentagon to willfully carry out his orders.
