A British opposition lawmaker says Parliament should stop the “madness” Iand overturn the result of a referendum calling for Britain to leave the European Union.

Labour legislator David Lammy says Thursday’s national vote was non-binding and “our sovereign Parliament needs to now vote on whether we should quit the EU.”

"Our sovereign Parliament"?

Does this low-brow not remember that he lives in a Monarchy? It ain't Parliament that is sovereign.

It was a bigger win (by percentage) than Obamas reelection win over Romney. The leftist media in the USA was crowing about how it was a huge Obama mandate (winning by only 2.7%).

Popular vote 2012:
Obama - 51.38%
Romney - 48.61%

There was a person very familiar with british law on a previous thread. He said they cannot ignore the referendum. He said this is exactly where the monarchy keeps the system in check. She can , at will, call the a dissolution of the govt any time and call for a new election. While rarely done it would be done in a case like this where the integrity of their democracy is at stake.

Ignore the referendum voted upon by millions of people?
Sounds like a good way to get your head cut off.

Indeed. Democracy only matters to some when it goes their way, falling back to dictating.

This is truth: some people really have a hard time understanding democracy or “we the people”

Pat Condell laid it out clearly what the vote was really over.

Bread & Circuses, effectively. Except that the elephant trampled the VIP seats, rather than general admission section.

My British friends say that the Queen is a Constitutionalist above all (certainly above any affinity for the EU. They all say she would dissolve Parliament if the referendum is ignored.
