Yesterday, the Senate voted to extend the draft to women who turn 18 during or after 2018. Obama has promised to veto such a bill, but there is probably enough support in congress to override a veto...
I opposed allowing women to serve in combat positions. I hold the monstrously retrograde opinion that women are different from men. ... I find myself at a loss to explain why, to those who don't find this truth obvious. It's like explaining why buttered toast smells good, or why bottomless holes are terrifying. What can I say?
I have many female friends who have served honorably in the military,...But requiring women to serve is an entirely different proposition. Women in the military already face a host of problems, which they can overcome with tremendous effort. Imagine increasing their numbers exponentially, and then imagine that most of these women do not want to serve.
[huge snip]
A good many of my friends have crankily observed that this is exactly what women do want. And some women do. ...
But many more women have been struggling to persuade the world that men and women both have rights and responsibilities, and should both be treated with respect . . . but that these rights and responsibilities aren't always the same for all men and for all women.
Men are better suited for combat. Biologically, psychologically, and emotionally, you will find countless more men than women who endure and even thrive in combat roles, and in military roles in general. Anyone who says otherwise is willfully blind. Men and women are not interchangeable. You can squeeze society hard enough to make them pretend that it is true, but it will always be women and children who suffer; and when women and children suffer, the whole world bleeds.

And on and on...
The people who want this, don't want a strong military. They want a disabled military and a demoralized America.

Amen.
Works for me. DESPITE being an Honorably Discharged Vet, every 5 years I have to prove I registered for the draft, when it’s time for the Clearance re-investigation.
Women don’t have to provide evidence of this. I have to dig a 45-year-old postcard out of the strongbox. . .
By the way, follow the link to Simcha Fisher’s article, because it’s worth reading the whole thing. I had to exerpt it.
This craziness us about destroying America, body and soul, inside and out.
Naïve as always, Mrs. Don-o. Wait until the bitter, divorced male freepers show up to show you the error of your ways! Some of them will even drop the F bomb on you if you answer them back.
Been there, done that!
We won WW1 and WW2 partly because we had strong families and strong mothers at home. We no longer possess the family structure we used to. In the event of a major war requiring the drafting of women in whatever role would result in catastrophic social and economic consequenses for rhe United States. But, perhaps that’s the plan.
I think having women sign up for selective service is a F-F-Fantastic idea.
Don’t tell me, tell Mrs. Don-O. I’ve been to this rodeo several times in the past two weeks. Try not to drop an F bomb if she disagrees with you, ok? It’s not nice and the mods may take a dim view of it, ok?
Either everyone iseligiblefortedraft, or get rid of it for everyone.
I will serve in a militia or as a grey man, fuch fedgov army.
In 1994, I was part of one of the first Co-ed basic training groups. By the end of boot camp, we guys were having to haul the girls' rucks and equipment around because most of them had ankle sprains or hairline fractures.
It didn't matter how Gung Ho they were, their bodies couldn't hold up to the pounding of Basic training.
Perhaps the biggest indictment of Army coed basic training was....I enjoyed it. It was too hard for the girls, but was way too easy on us men. If we were getting smoked by a DS, but a girl started whimpering, the smoking would stop.
Girls can do support jobs that frees up men for frontline duty. The only time you put women in combat, is if you're fighting a war for national survival- like the USSR during WW II or Israel in the 1948 war.
There are actually Republican Senators who voted for this measure? Really?
I think of that story when I reflect on mandating women for the draft.
Young women should just refuse to register. Ridiculous.
There’s a draft? When did that happen?
Au contraire, all potential draftees should be obligated to minimal equipping and training - just as the Founding Fathers intended - centered around each having an M16 or M40 and case of ammo.
Where can we find the names of the bozos who voted for this?
Just need to point it out again ... B H Obama NEVER registered with Selective Service ...
Why should he? He ain't from around these parts.
It’s all about equality, man.
Women are no different than men, so they say.
In fact an increasing number of circles are saying that women are superior to men.
The die has already been cast. Obey God and His law and you will never go wrong; disobey God and you will never go right. That simple truism has been all but lost in America.
If you want change, repent and seek God through Jesus Christ.
