In polite society, the correct opinion to hold about Scottish independence is that the Union must stay together. But Ive been wondering: might not England thrive, freed from the yoke of those whining, kilted leeches? The more you think about it, the more persuasive the argument seems to be.
Ive been invited to debate this question whether or not we long-suffering Sassenachs would be better off without our sponging Caledonian neighbours in early September, at a debate held by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.
How might I begin? Well, there are of course the immediate political consequences. A break-up of the Union would be indelible on David Camerons record, and absolutely devastating to his reputation and legacy. Never mind anything else the Tories have achieved in government: Cameron would go down in history as the PM who lost Scotland.
But, as joyful as the prospect of Daves humiliation will be to some Breitbart London readers, there are even more spectacular potential effects. Not only will the West Lothian Question be settled in the only satisfactory manner possible, but the structural bias in our constituency boundaries that favours the Labour Party will be blown apart.

I wanted to post it after following the elections tonight.
JK Rowling just tweedet this:
J.K. Rowling @jk_rowling 41 minfor 41 minutter siden J.K. Rowling Retweetet Angharad Cole Scotland will seek independence now. Cameron's legacy will be breaking up two unions. Neither needed to happen.
I SAY it is time for England to get rid of the Scots.
They are socialist. They are globalist.
Let them leave the UK, let them join the EU.
England will get a conservative government.
If Scotland splits, they're effed.
Ireland is upset with Briton too.
Separate countries though.
Scotland is a backwater...they may vote to leave the UK, fine. They will be another Canada. But they won’t be EU.
Either Labour have suffered a gene pool collapse like the American Mafia, or the rank and file have added a few IQ points. Must be a third explanation.
A bit of North sea oil and gas.
Oil and natural gas--much of the North Sea petroleum reserves are off the eastern coast of Scotland. But then, they have to directly compete against OPEC, Russia and now the USA.
Northern Ireland is part of UK isn’t it?
I am of Scottish descent, and it sickens me what putrid, Communist, Islamo-loving, homo-embracing snowflakes they have become. Tonight they voted en masse to stay joined at the hip with Adolf Merkel. Idiots.
The problem with Scotland is that outside of ranch farming, distilled spirits and petroleum, what else can prop up their economy?
England should give them to Ireland as well.
So then they don’t have to be UK anymore.
They do that every damn election in the UK.
Before it was Labour, now it is Nicola Sturgeon.
Let Scotland join the EU.
Bingo!
If Edinburg was the Financial Center instead of London, then yes, I'd say Go for It, Scotland, but as it is I'd say it would be a bad move.
Out! Out damn Scots!!
If Scotland joins the EU, then Britain loses the immigration advantage of leaving the EU. They would have an illegal immigrant problem with EU rapefugees going to Scotland freely and then crossing that long border to reach England and Wales.
What is said is that Northern Ireland gets a ‘check’ each year from the EU....their peace dividend. So that check is gone, and the bitterness sets in. I would expect a vote within twelve months for Northern Ireland to exit the UK. Maybe there is some alliance between them and the Scots....although I don’t see how that would work.
