A police officer who was one of the first to arrive at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando has claimed he was made to wait while Omar Mateen wandered around the club gunning people down.

The FBI said this week that police first responders 'engaged the shooter' inside the club at 2.08am but Officer Brandon Cornwell said he had been told to wait for a SWAT team to arrive.

It is known that Mateen, who was heavily armed with an AR-15 assault rifle and a handgun and was feared to be carrying explosives, had an exchange of fire with a security guard when he first arrived at the LGBT club, which was holding its regular Latino night.

If you are hearing gun fire and receiving 911 calls of an active shooter it’s pretty clear this is not a hostage situation. The officer who made the call to wait screwed up totally.

What if two brave officers with gear on went in and immediately split up? So they could “two against one” the guy? Or am I really ignorant of this stuff? A simple quickly drawn layout by an employee outside, and you’d think it would be worth the risk...

They don’t think like they used to

And they have their immediate self congratulatory news conferences

And the media and sheep eat it up

It’s pitiful

So it’s an AR clone lower, basically, with a bunch of Picatinny rail and a skeleton buttstock.

I’m surprise the Mook bastard didn’t use an AK...

Also piston-driven and supposedly easier to change calibers (i.e. the barrel). I wonder if he used 5.56mm or some other caliber like 300 blackout?

Piston IS better... Sig makes some fine equipment, for sure.

So, for all intents and purposes to the mediots, it’s an EEEEVVVVIL AR15 (gasp!) (choke!) (sob!)

‘I don’t think the quality of law enforcement personel is what it used to be From my youth in 60s and 70s’

My uncle was a West Texas sheriff. Very similar to what Tommy Lee Jones played in No Country for Old Men, but bigger and more reserved in speech. His first name honest to God was Cowboy.

He and the Texas Rangers that he worked with didn’t have to play dress up and pretend they were tough, they were the real deal when real trouble showed up.

A murderer that my uncle had captured and taken to California escaped from prison and headed back to Texas. He took a local rancher hostage and held a gun on the rancher as they drove around in his pickup, hunting my uncle and any Texas Ranger that he might find.

At some point the lawmen cornered him instead and Mr Murderer may have decided that he was going to give up. We will never know for sure because a flurry of gunfire interrupted him before he could make a speech clarifying his position. A pity, I’m sure.

Take a look for yourself:

http://www.sigevolution.com/sigmcx

According to this video, it’s a 300 Black setup, and from the appearence, it’s built somewhat like an AR-15, but from what I can see the only thing that would interchange are the mags. I own several SigSauer handguns and they are very high quality, so I’m betting that Sig would not build a rifle that would permit you to exchange parts with a garden varety AR-15.
