How does the Federal Government get to edit and redact any 9-1-1 call it likes?
Is this some consequence of Federal money being used to set up and pay for all the thousands of 9-1-1 systems that blanket the country?
Is there language in the legislation that set up the 9-1-1 system and took it nationwide that says the feds can swoop in and commandeer the system any time they feel like doing so, including controlling the public dissemination of information that arises from calls to the system?
Including editing and redacting the permanent public record as they see fit?
What about the preservation of the original, unredacted information? Is that impossible?
