Three people were arrested with multiple loaded guns, rifles and ballistic vests at the Holland Tunnel Tuesday when police stopped them for driving with a cracked windshield, authorities tell NBC 4 New York.

The three individuals, two men in their 50s and a woman in her 20s who may be from Pennsylvania, were stopped on the New Jersey side of the tunnel around 8 a.m., authorities said. A search of their vehicle revealed the weapons cache.

The guns seized included long-range weapons as well as handguns. A camouflage helmet with what appeared to be night goggles was also recovered.

If they were bringing SALT, not assault, in to NYC they’d be in really big trouble.

How did a stop for a cracked windsheild turn in to a search?

Two senior law enforcement officials say the three suspects are so-called "gun enthusiasts" and have no nexus to terror. There is no known threat. WNBC

A law enforcement person just can’t search an automobile without cause. I’m curios as to what prompted the search. A cracked windshield is not an offense that reaches the limitations. I get the feeling that they were being watched and that NBC, in their infinite wisdom failed to display that.

NOBODY gets stopped for a cracked windshield.

Not ready to concede I am a NOBODY; however, I did get ticketed in two different CA jurisdictions in the same day for a cracked window in a 6 month old vehicle. (Attorney tried, but had to pay both of them.)

I agree with your second point, it is very likely someone was doing their job. And, that may have justified the search.

They tried to cover the crack in the window with a “Let go, let Allah” bumper sticker.

It’s the seriousness of the charge that matters...and it fits the Big Lie.

I got pulled over in Utah once in 1984 for flashing hi-beams at trooper who flashed up on me first. Pulled me over and wanted to know why I flashed my hi-beams up and I told him because he flashed up on high and left them on!

So he noticed my cracked windshield and writes me a $125 ticket for it and makes me follow him to the nearest weigh station to pay it! What a prick!

Looks to me from your picture that these people were lucky they got stopped because they were woefully underarmed for a trip to NYC!

Not in today’s DOJ/NYC political games.

They were probably trailed BACK from the rural/subusrb area where they were hunting/shooting beer bottles/iron targets at long range ... THEN “arrested” as soon as they crossed the “white line” into NYC.

Today’s FBI/DOJ/White House NEEDS a “redneck white male” to be arrested on gun charges IMMEDIATELY ... If they were Muslim, they would have been escorted across.

Heck, if they were Muslim, they would have not been stopped at all.

Remember that PIAT launcher somebody pulled out of a river/pond? You'd think it was a tactical nuke from the way that it was initially treated.

Perhaps it could be dangerous if the spring was compressed, and the right rusting parts failed.

“How did a stop for a cracked windsheild turn in to a search?”

Didn’t you see the Supreme Court ruling from yesterday that voided the 4th Amendment? ANY stop can now justify a search and even if the stop was illegal the search will still be legal because we now officially live in a police state.

I agree. If they were smart, they would have had all the guns AND magazines UNLOADED and in LOCKED container in the TRUNK with another keyset. If cop asks what is in the trunk, answer is "get a warrant".

Id really like to see the vehicle they were in. I bet if the cop could look inside the vehicle and see a bunch of tactical gear, magazines, knifes, and ammo, it might past muster as a "terry look/pat". Depends on the demeanor of the suspects and if they were stupid enough to give consent to search the car. If they did...they are hosed in NJ/NY even with FOPA protections.

Desperately. And preferably multiple parties (drugged up psychotic "loners" being groomed as we speak.)

Drugs were also found. Body armor

Investigators are looking into whether the suspects were planning to shoot a rival drug dealer, the source said.
