What to Expect When Trump Meets 900 Evangelical Leaders Tuesday
CP Politics ^ | 6/19/16 | Anugrah Kumar

Posted on 06/19/2016 5:15:20 PM PDT by blueyon

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's closed-door meeting Tuesday with 900 top evangelical and social conservative leaders will be a time of questions and answers on issues such as the Supreme Court, sanctity of life and religious freedom, according to an organizer, who said a similar meeting is being discussed also with Trump's rival Hillary Clinton.

"Of the more than 50,000 questions that came in, many of them focused on those three issues. Others focused on issues related to leadership, national security, and faith," Johnnie Moore, the spokesperson for My Faith Votes, a non-partisan organization focused on engaging the 25 million Christians who did not vote in 2012 and one of the two groups behind the meeting, told The Christian Post.

"We democratized the solicitation of questions so that this meeting would be even more representative of Christians in America than the 900 people in attendance," Moore said. The meeting, "A Conversation About America's Future with Donald Trump and Ben Carson," will be held in New York City. Both organizers My Faith Votes and United in Purpose seek to bring about cultural change in America based on Judeo-Christian principles and motivate and mobilize people of faith in the democratic process through responsible citizenship.

Asked how Trump intends to ease concerns of evangelical leaders, Moore said the purpose of the meeting is not to persuade anyone, "but to better introduce everyone to one another."

Actually, this could be a very difficult meeting for Trump. At our very conservative church ( definitely not PC when it comes to abortion and gay marriage), immigration is a very big deal, and, while not mentioning Trump by name, they don’t like his position one bit. They believe that with each Muslim who relocates here, there is a potential convert to Christianity. I have pointed out that we now have two generations of Muslim immigration to Europe and America, and there is no evidence of any statistically significant conversion from Islam to Christianity and no reason to think that will change. They aren’t listening.

That's some incredible stupidity. If they want people to convert, they should convert native infidels. If they have a fetish for people with a darker color of skin, they should send missionaries to go meet them.

Johnnie Moore, who’s worked with Mark Burnett, is hosting the get-together and Dr. Ben Carson is going to give the opening remarks.

All sounds friendly and almost casual to me and I think Mister Nominee Donald Trump will not only assuage the concerns some may have but also delightfully win them over.

I hope they don’t let Ben go on too long. He’ll either put them to sleep or start talking about the pyramids.

He has been meeting with small groups of pastors — 2-3 dozen since last fall. Looks like the prayer meeting and laying on of hands has grown. Hope it continues to grow ! Amen to all of their prayers

Here is reality as it is now..

* Muslims in America are getting their agenda pushed
Having done nothing for American and their faith
based in a religion that is based on hate and violence

* Illegal immigrants are having their agenda and views
pushed forward...having it much better here than were
they came from...mostly for their help in an effort
to change America

* LBGT are having their agends championed and praised
as they use their new found ‘freedoms’ to trample over
and abuse ppl that do nothing but disagree with them

* So Christians, who have done much for this country,
giving and being tolerant of others views, but
disagreeing with them, are all of a sudden the
trouble makers and the ruin of everything.

What Christians are basically being told is throw away
your beliefs, your morals accept whatever else is pushed.
Because you have no choice, because we have marginalized you to reduce your influence.

So think about this, because these are dangerous and perhaps tipping point times. Following is a well known quote from a Protestant pastor who regretted all the scapegoats he was called upon to betray...

First they came for the..
Socialists, and I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then for the Trade Unionists,
and I did not speak out— I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then for the Jews, and I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew.

Then for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

‘They believe that with each Muslim who relocates here, there is a potential convert to Christianity!”

Yeah, your church is right up there with all the rest. The Mormons and the Catholics are really big on bringing Mexicans into the country. Persoally, I wouldn’t belong to a church that didn’t observe our country’s laws. I don’t see bringing “the world’s poor and unwashed here” as anything other than the money that these people bring to the churches. It’s a disgrace in my view! Destroying what others before us built isn’t Christian. And converting Muslims, really? Give me a break. At least Mexicans are already Christians.

Before I replied to you I decided to read the rest of the posts.

This thread is the biggest “downer” I can remember...

I am just sick at the Republicans who show their disregard for the voters in their party. I may just go into hibernation until after the convention...well maybe not. I wonder how I can fight them?

“Sorry, but that’s reality unless you are of the “Make believe Christianity” school where all you do is “spread the love of Jesus” and people can’t wait to get baptized.”

Good phrase, “Make Believe Christianity!” A lot of folks have taken leave of their senses in this country, and the uber religious Christians are at the top of the list! They need to remember that “all that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” This business of a narrowly drawn religious litmus test for candidate support is number one in good men doing nothing! And as the country sails further into the toilet they say:”well I didn’t have anything to do with it,” when they had everything to do with it! If these religious leaders really have the handle on 25 million votes, they damned well better make sure that they get their people to support Trump, because what comes along with Clinton and the RATs is doing away with their religious liberty.

I have had a very good feeling about this upcoming evangelical meeting, and your take on it only increases our hope for a supportive conclusion that comes from it.

Thank you for the ping, love.

"They believe that with each Muslim who relocates here, there is a potential convert to Christianity."

I had a discussion with a wise ole' Rabbi a while back and he noted, Judaism is the only religion where they don't go out an solicit you have to come in and approach them and the Rabbi will ask you 3 times, you really want to do this?

Perhaps your Church elders should have a cup of coffee with my Rabbi friend.

Do your elders know what the ramification of converting Muslims are once they the are converted?.

Wow, this is such an important development. Carson is the man who likely put it together. I am quite confident that Trump senses the importance of gaining the support and prayers of these church leaders. Trump has great instincts. Perhaps there is more at work here than we know.

I think that has been the hallmark of the evangelical support for Trump so far.

If anyone, Christian or not, thinks that the muslims pouring into the west are ripe for conversion to Christianity, they’re dreaming in technicolour. If there will be any conversions, it will be the muslims forcing some westerners to convert.

Certainly, putting Muslims on welfare won’t make Christianity any dearer to them.

The real problem? The Muslims are not meeting Christian charity, they are meeting Caesar’s welfare.

a potential convert to Christianity

While the statement is true, would they let drug dealers and pedophiles into their communities simply because they a potential converts to Christianity too?

I wonder of the people who hold to this opinion are willing to do the work of evangelism with these 'potential converts'. Can they even stand in a simple debate with a muslim? Do they even know the issues?

Actually, it gets worse. The “they’ll all convert” theme was by a guest pastor and an associate pastor. When the senior pastor returned, I thought reason had been restored. Not so. When he finished his last sermon ( which was excellent), the senior pastor picked up on theme from the sermon to tell the congregation ( about a thousand) the following: In deciding who to vote for, we are to prayerfully consider who would be best for immigrants, then who would be best for the poor. I’m not making this up.

Don’t kill the messenger.
