They're not just for bullseye shooters and tactical carbines anymore. I put an unused UltraDot (purchased for a handgun I never got around to buying) on a short levergun- it looks a little odd to a traditionalist like myself, but it increases my effectiveness and is far easier on my eyes than the stock irons.

Slightly funny, but my takeaway is that we gunners just got a whole bunch of new allies.
He’s just tryin’ to be funny. It’s a bordline comment, of course, but I don’t rake him over TOO many coals for it. I just have a very different take: We just gained a few million allies in the fight to keep the Second.
If any cartridge will push a bullet in excess of 450FPS, it is capable of lethality on a human target. A .380 will do it if the shooter does his or her part.
Sure, a bigger caliber is better. But, it is a fact that you have to work with the tools in your toolbox sometimes.
I’ll bet that the people cowering in the Pulse bathroom for three hours, or the classrooms at Virginia Tech waiting to be killed would have rather had a .380 than the nothing that liberals made them have.
The ground is full of thugs, armed robbers, and home invaders who were dispatched by this “spit wad” thrower.

You are probably right - it just seemed an odd comment w/o some sign of sarcasm. It's why my original retort was, "Really? That's your take on it?", vs a real slam.
My current one is a customized ex-Israeli heavy barrel FAL, and I like it the best of the ones I’ve had to date. Surprisingly accurate as I’ve had the barrel free-floated. Looking for a Para FAL to add to the collection as a lighter counterpart now.
