Florida Bishop Blames Orlando Massacre on Catholic ‘Contempt’ for Homosexuality
Breitbart ^ | Jun 14, 2016 | THOMAS D. WILLIAMS

Posted on 06/14/2016 7:57:31 AM PDT by Mr. Mojo

The Catholic Bishop of St. Petersburg, Fla, has blamed Catholic disapproval of homosexual acts for the brutal slaughter of 49 people in the Pulse nightclub on Sunday.

In a blogpost Monday, Bishop Robert Lynch said that Catholicism “targets” and “often breeds contempt for gays, lesbians and transgender people.” The seed of contempt, he said, turns into hatred, “which can ultimately lead to violence.” Unless this attitude changes, he states, “we can expect more Orlandos.”

In his post, the bishop made no attempt to explain how a 29-year-old Muslim who never stepped foot in a Catholic Church would have been motivated to carry out his deed by a supposed Catholic “contempt” for homosexuality.

It is “religion,” Lynch wrote, “including our own, which targets, mostly verbally, and also often breeds contempt for gays, lesbians and transgender people. Attacks today on LGBT men and women often plant the seed of contempt, then hatred, which can ultimately lead to violence.”

In his statement, Bishop Lynch also takes issue with modern interpretations and applications of the Second Amendment.

“Our founding parents had no knowledge of assault rifles which are intended to be weapons of mass destruction,” he said. In crafting the second amendment to the Constitution, “they thought only of the most awkward of pistols and heavy shotguns.”

Yes, there was an infiltration of communists, etc. into the Catholic Church. My mom was well aware of it, fought against it in her local parish, and was SJW’ed out in the early 70s. Luckily, once I was living in Manhattan, she would visit me and we would go to my own conservative parish.

In a sane Catholic Church this homosexual bishop who rants about Church teaching would be put on ice. But I said in a sane Church. Francis will promote him. Probably give him a job in the Vatican.
The worthless leftist Blash Cupich said the massacre happened because of GUNS, GUNS, GUNS. “America’s Francis” didn’t hardly didn’t mention radical Islamic terrorists.

“How do retarded idiots like this ever get chosen as clerical leaders?”

He is not retarded. He is probably very intelligent though I don’t know for sure.

But he is part of the hierarchy that is dishonest, corrupt and promotes homosexuality.

Good for you for remembering and reminding. Lynch is a quisling, an accomplice to murder, a disgrace.

Lynch is from Charleston, SC... where Cardinal Bernadin allegedly performed black-mass sex abuse, and where the black-mass 33rd-degree rite of the Southern Rite of Free-Masonry was created by Albert Pike (which led to the KKK).

“You don’t have to pay. It’s voluntary. I have a good parish in Manhattan. I donate to them and some very conservative Catholic convents and fraternities.”

Your Archdiocese takes a percentage of the funds that are donated to the parish. That is not voluntary.

Do you have a Cardinal's Appeal? Each parish is assessed a given amount. If they do not collect it, it is taken from the offertory donations.

The hierarchy has no accountability to the parishioners regarding how they spend their money.

Like Bernadin, he’s a former General Secretary of the USCCB before the radical-leftists were defeated in their line of successions.

From this article:
http://www.lifeandhope.com/terri_schiavo_s_family_remarks_on_bishop_robert_n_lynch_s_retirement

“Bishop Lynch visited my daughter just once, for a few moments,” Mary Schindler, Terri’s mother, said. “And at a key moment in my daughter’s legal defense, Bishop Lynch allowed a local priest named Fr. Gerard Murphy to testify—against my daughter. Fr. Murphy admitted his testimony was contrary to Catholic teaching, and that he had permission from Bishop Lynch to share it. As a mother, I take comfort in the fact that God knows all the ways that Bishop Lynch failed my daughter.”

The pretzel logic on display from many Leftist quarters in the wake of the Orlando terrorist event has been breathtaking.

Read about Bishop Lynch. The hierarchy are corrupt. It is the parish priests and faithful parishioners who keep the church going.

“The sexual misconduct charge against Lynch involved former diocesan employee Bill Urbanski, 42, who reported to Church officials that Lynch had sexually harassed him on numerous occasions.

Church officials said they offered Urbanski another job within the diocese but away from Bishop Lynch in September 2002, but Urbanski turned down the offer. Instead, he was given a $100,000 severance package after he agreed not to file a lawsuit. Actually, the figure is closer to $150,000 if the extended salary payment that qualified Urbanski for vested pension benefits is included.

The entire operation was carried out in almost total secrecy. Lynch’s three loyal subordinates — diocesan attorney, Joseph DiVito, Vicar General Msgr. Brendan Muldoon, and Chancellor Msgr. Robert Gibbons — “reviewed” the complaint against their boss. Only Archbishop John Favalora in Miami was notified of the complaint. Nothing was put in writing. Nevertheless, church officials denied that the payment was “hush money.” “The diocese does not buy silence in St. Petersburg,” said attorney DiVito. He explained that the money came from parishioners, bequeaths, investments and unrestricted accounts. “No funds earmarked for the ministry were used,” DiVito said.

Bishop Lynch’s intimate relationship with bachelor David Herman, a contractor who had moved from Fort Lauderdale to St. Petersburg with Lynch when he was installed as bishop. The two men had vacationed together in Hawaii, San Francisco, Key West, Bermuda, Israel and Rome, sometimes accompanied by Urbanski.

Herman had several things in common with Urbanski, one of them being that both men were triathletes. In March 2000, all three men, that is Herman, Urbanski and Lynch went to West Palm Beach for a weekend. Urbanski said the bishop pressured him to go. When they got to their hotel, Urbanski said that Lynch made him take a steam bath together. Herman, who joined the two men said that Urbanski clearly did not want to be there.

Urbanski said that when Lynch began to make sexual overtures towards him, he tried to avoid the bishop as much as possible. “I tried to avoid him as the years progressed, without him getting mad at me. I couldn’t have him mad at me. It was a tough day at work if he was mad at me, yet I couldn’t leave. He went as far as to tell me how to wear my hair. If I got my hair cut, he would say, ‘Oh, Bill. You need to grow your hair back. It’s not a flattering haircut for you.’” He said that when he and Bishop Lynch traveled together the bishop always insisted on sharing rooms, and sometimes appeared naked from the shower.

he (Urbanski) was frequently the recipient of the bishop’s largesse — watches, designer clothing and other expensive items. Urbanski said at first he was grateful, until he realized that the gifts came at a price — more time, attention, and ultimately sexual favors for the bishop.

Lynch, as Corporation Sole of the Diocese of St. Petersburg, had awarded Herman highly inflated new construction contracts totaling $30.3 million on a non-competitive bid basis even though diocesan regulations mandate open bidding for church construction work.”

“The Catholic heirarchy has been very confused lately.”

Just lately? The “Catholic Heirarchy” has been more than just confused for decades!

BTW, this is the same Bishop Lynch who was content to sit back and let Terry Schiavo be put to death by starvation/dehydration.

I think he even issued a statement supporting the "husband" and the "probate judge" who murdered her.

This latest statement of his is contemptible.
