President Obama Calls Orlando Shooting an 'Act of Terror' (refuses to say "Islamic")

President Obama today described as as "an act of terror" the mass shooting in Orlando overnight, which left at least 50 people dead.

“We stand with the people of Orlando who have endured a terrible attack on their city,” Obama said at the White House. “This could have been any one of our cities.”

I would point out that "act of terror" and "act of terrorism" are not synonymous. Only the latter is defined as involving a desire to destabilize society as a whole.

Governments have a love/hate relationship with terrorists, only because governments want to control the timing and means of social destabilization.
