The campaign for Britain to leave the European Union took a 10 percentage-point lead in a poll published late Friday, less than two weeks before the country votes in a referendum. The pound dropped.
The survey of 2,000 people by ORB for the Independent newspaper found 55 percent in favor of a so-called Brexit, up 4 points since a previous poll in April, with 45 percent for "Remain," down 4 points. It's the biggest "Leave" lead recorded by ORB in polls for the newspaper. The pound was 1.4 percent lower at $1.4256 at 7:24 p.m. in London.
It's the latest online poll to suggest an advance for the "Leave" campaign, while a YouGov survey published Monday put "Remain" narrowly ahead. Polling companies themselves have expressed doubt about the reliability of their surveys, having failed to forecast the result of last year's British general election.
Prime Minister David Cameron, in comments before the ORB survey's release, urged the public to ignore polls.

Sorry, I’m not following what you are saying. Do you mean the EU is helping GB keep out Muslim invaders? Does not seem to be working that way for France and Germany. Then again, as I said, I’m not getting your point.

I’ve read reports that the French have threatened to stop policing their side of the channel tunnels to keep illegals out of Britain. It seems like every other Saracen that has slipped into Europe wants to get to the UK.
What I do is get on Bing or Google and search on keywords from the article title and add freerepublic.com. That works better than our in-house search tool.

I hope Brexit wins, but there have been several close votes concerning the EU in various countries and the EU supporters always seem to win.
The powerful elites will never accept a YES vote to exit the EU, they will cut some new deal for the UK and sell it to the voters to get a NO vote.
They’ll keep fixing it, selling it etc. etc. until the public is brainwashed into the ‘right vote’.
Peter Hitchens wrote a column some months back saying EU membership is like being at the “Hotel California” as recorded by The Eagles.

The “Left” versus “Right” noise made by cable news, talk show hosts and websites called “Conservative” and “Progressive” is all a distraction to confuse us.

This poll is an obvious fake to make pro-Brexit folks relax and pro-EU folks flock to the polls. The true sentiment is very close, or slightly pro-EU.
Polls, schmolls. The devil’s in the details. Is the plebiscite binding? What’s the timetable? Even if the good guys win the referendum, the powerful interests behind EU will do anything to thwart the will of the people. The referendum is probably no more binding than a congressional resolution.

Now, from what I’m reading - and these are people who actually live in Great Britain (England, specifically) - without EU protection, they fear refugees will be permitted to gain access to GB. Apparently, it is the EU who is holding them back in those Calais refugee camps. Calais has always been an entry point into England. It was once English territory.

OK, I dug a bit more. Apparently UK is paying for the fences and checkpoints in France, and does passport control on that side of the Channel, so if the agreement with France is ended, the British border controls would be at the English ferry terminals, not the French terminals. So the Brits probably would end up having to build concentration camps.
The referendum is not legally binding on the UK Parliament — necessary pieces of legislation would still need to go through Parliament to complete the withdrawal process, so who knows?
