Gingrich: Trump remarks about judge 'mistake,' 'inexcusable'
Fox News ^ | June 05, 2016

Donald Trump supporter Newt Gingrich on Sunday sharply criticized the presumptive GOP presidential nominee for his racially-sensitive remarks about the judge presiding over the Trump University civil fraud case.

“It was one of the worst mistakes Trump has made. Inexcusable,” the former GOP House speaker, who has become one of Trump’s closest advisers, told “Fox News Sunday.”

Trump has argued that American-born District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, whose parents are from Mexico, is biased against him, considering Trump’s vow to build a wall along the southern U.S. border to keep out Mexicans.

“He’s Mexican,” Trump told CNN on Friday. “We’re building a wall between here and Mexico.”

Gingrich, whose is considered a potential Trump running-mate, also called the comment a “mistake” but stopped short of calling it racist.

“That judge is not a Mexican. He’s an American,” he said. “I hope it was sloppiness.”

Would membership in the KKK be grounds for impeachment for a judge?

If so, then membership in La Raza would also be.

“We are all Americans”

Right, their constituents would chase them into the street right into other attackers, if they said, “All lives matter.”

The Media marches in Unison in keeping LaRaza out of this. That’s not highly suspicious at all.

I suspect that Trump has been doing polls. Maybe he’s found that calling that judge a Mexican helps with a lot of voters. It certainly didn’t seem like he said it accidentally. I think he knows what he is doing.

Amen. Ugh, Newt man pay attention, how about YOU (meaning Newt) get clear on what the issue is - it is NOT that the Judge was born in freakin Indiana for f*** sake.

Gingrich has a habit of doing this. He has become nothing more than another mindless DC pundit.

Despite overtures to Mr. Trump re: support, etc., etc. The “Peloshi Couch” in him can’t help but out itself.

He is an opportunist thinker who blew his chance by getting tripped up in his trousers. Just another wonk out there trying to play both sides of the fence.

Mexico is a nation not a race.

A nation that has treated us very badly. They have not behaved as an ally.

The Mexican government promotes the illegal invasion of the US by its Mexican citizens.

Trump’s policies are good for the US and detrimental to Mexico and the Mexican citizens who live in the US illegally.

The Left, the judge, Mayor Licarrdo, Chief Garcia, La Raza side with Mexico.

Come on Newt, the last seven and a half years has exposed IN YOUR FACE bias and corruption in all levels of the government and justice divisions. They wouldn’t have picked this guy if he wasn’t agenda driven.

Well, so much for your strange new respect, Newt. Now you’ll be “dead to them” again, like you were for most of a generation.

I’m sure it won’t bother you much, though: you’re still rich, and you still have pretty hair.

That may be very true on all points but the judge’s rulings have actually been rather favorable to Trump as far as I can tell, or at least not notably biased. And even if they were he could not be recused on the fact of being either Mexican (which he isn’t) or a member of a mainstream legal organization.

Not now, Newt.

Then when? We have a candidate who says things like this on a regular basis. Are we all supposed to pretend there's nothing wrong with it?

Here is the problem a I see it.

I don't think there is a racist bone in Donald Trumps body. His track record says it all. He's a first class citizen.

He is in a business, real estate where they play hardball all the time. The rules are different from politics. Picking the right judge sometimes makes all the difference in real estate. I think he's still trying to operate in the wrong environment using anything he can. In a political environment that can be a big mistake. You can't do that and get away with it.its foolish to give the left stuff they can slam you with so political expediency needs to come into play in his campaign immediately.

This morning he is being crucified on MSNBC and CNN which is to be expected. They do that daily. But today they are getting traction.

They get traction by ignoring the defects of Hillary and bill and the biggest things they do like 50 mysterious deaths surrounding them, stealing billions, destroying the mid-east, North Africa,Benghazi, on and on while the Donald is pillaged for stray remarks about a minor court case. This should never have blown up if you are at all politically astute.

We have to win the media war and not do dumb things.

Actually, Newt is correct and the Donald needs to listen to Newt "more" not less.

All trump has to say at this point and I'm not advocating an apology is to clarify how he is transitioning from a real estate environment to a political environment and it may take him a while to lean the rules of the game.

If he just would shut up sometimes he would be far better off.

Well the good thing is that now - maybe - at long last - after his long string of backstabbings - Freepers will finally see the light on newt.
Or will they?

Love him or hate him Newt is always 80/20. 80% of the time he is brilliant, destroys the left with ease which is what we need and the other 20% of the time hes going on a cruise during his campaign for potus or sitting on a couch next to piglosi. He has warts. But he is a brilliant political mind,he shouldn’t be ignored.

“Which is why all the enthusiasm here for Newt as vice president never made sense to me”

Didn’t make sense to me either. I’ve seen him as trying to play both sides for awhile now. Kind of has a smugness, self importance persona.

To me he has been a has been ever since he left office.

You are right. Its foolish to invest any political capital in such a foolish court case.We already know that 95% of those who attended Trump U where very satisfied!!Case closed! Why prolong this crap and let the hard left have traction? We are playing a totally political game. We lost last time,in part, with a silly 47% comment that was never countered. Are we going to do it again?

By all means, let the presstitutes dictate what Trump should do.

They know what’s best.

I have noticed a pattern. It may not be intentional, but it is a pattern nonetheless.

Trump will make an outrageous statement that when analyzed is actually accurate.

Members of his own party will criticize him for it.

Then surrogates will, in the press, step forward and demonstrate the accuracy of his statement.

In the case of the judge, Trump said the judge is biased against him. Newt, Ryan, and McConnell spoke out criticizing Trump.

Then on Sunday, various Trump spokesmen clarified the matter on national TV that the judge was a loyal La Raza member and had also appointed a law firm as plaintiff counsel in the Trump suit who had paid over $600 grand to the Clintons.

Exactly same sequence of events took place regarding Trump's criticism of Gov Martinez.

Did Trump's people coordinate with McConnell, Ryan, and Newt? In fact, was Newt the one doing the coordinating?

Such an enterprise accomplishes two things. First, it gets more earned media for Trump and the issue he is bringing to light. Secondly, it creates a controversy which generates even more press heat.

And finally, it gets resolved in such a way that Trump is shown once again to be justifiably killing the powers of political correctness.
