Why So Many Men Are Living With Their Parents
New York Post ^ | May 30, 2016 | Karol Markowicz

When we think of a child passing into adulthood, we usually picture independent living — perhaps with roommates, alone or eventually with a partner or spouse. Today that picture might need some adjustment.

A Pew Research poll released last week found that American men age 18 to 34 are more likely to be living with their parents than in any other living situation.

What’s going on? What’s happening to men? And, just as important: Why?

A healthy 34 year old male living with his parents is NOT a man!

I don’t think that counts at all. Even if it was your mother.

The sex scandal emerged after the damage had been done (though it certainly didn’t help); they did financially what the hierarchy had already done spiritually (bankrupted it).

While the destruction of the private school system is a byproduct of the high taxes, the primary purpose of our tax structure is so the enemy can live off occupied land, so to speak; the taxpayers have to fund the union dues that are funneled to Dem candidates that can squeeze the taxpayers for more money for union dues to be funneled to Dem candidates that can squeeze more money from taxpayers to fund more union dues...(you get the picture). The teachers’ unions in this country are the backbone of the Democratic Party, which is simply their political arm; they will keep the borders open to keep schools open to keep union dues (de facto “political taxes” by which taxpayers are required to fund the Democratic Party) flowing...

The feminazis have destroyed the idea of real manhood.

The expectations of a man have been deconstructed by the cultural Marxists, deliberately, to undermine the masculine as a mainstay of the culture. Fifty years ago we knew full well what a man was and what was expected of him. And there was little if any "diversity" to dilute those expectations.

After high school, you moved out asap--for a man to live at home with parents for any length of time, without aggressively seeking independence, was shameful. No self respecting man would be caught dead sitting home playing video games, even if they existed.

For some, moving out meant joining the military, either by enlistment or the draft. For some it meant college. For many others it meant getting some skills, starting a business, or getting a job.

It was expected to get married in the late teens or early twenties-- it was just what you did.

There is no reason these scenarios should not hold today-- except that they are not "normalized." The economic complaint is a cop out. There are good paying jobs going begging because too many egos get in the way of going to work. Any young man can still make his own way, if he merely has the gumption.

Oh-- and, "their mother's won't let them grow up?" Good god, what drivel.

I think you may have missed the male hating/anti male/end masculinity feminist movement of the last 40 years. It was wild.

When I was in high school I could NOT WAIT for my drivers license. It meant some independence. When I graduated and went to college, I could NOT WAIT to move out, 1000 miles from my folks. I loved them, but wanted to be on my own.

There's NO WAY I'd have lived with my parents into my 20s.

I'm afraid the under-20s now just want to be taken care of, and it's going to come back on them big-time.

“I’m afraid the under-20s now just want to be taken care of, and it’s going to come back on them big-time. “

You are absolutely correct.

Bad Government policies have created perverse incentives that affect/direct behavior.

The underemployed/unemployed males living at home don’t have much of a dating life and thus not much hope of starting a family or becoming fathers.

I really feel sorry for them. The 20’s and 30’s go by very quickly. Its never to late just isn’t true for many things in life.

Females on the other hand can always have children and have the government pay the bills. This creates another different set of problems for society.

"Anything you can do, I can do better."

That's what males of my generation were told, at a very early age, by females through the media.

Feminists took over the public education realm, declared the male way of learning invalid, determined normal male behavior to be a medical condition requiring medication, and found males to be over-represented in higher education.

“A healthy 34 year old male living with his parents is NOT a man!”

Total nonsense. One reason is the cost and convenience.

Also, have you heard the saying that goes something like “Judge ye not, so you won’t be judged”?

Each may have their own reasons and if it works fir them and the parents, it’s none of anyone else’s business.

No. Because rent is $800/month and they owe $60,000 in student loans and they jobs available are minimum wage jobs.

$800 a month is a bargain where I live for a good location. Rent in major cities is crushing. Many men and women in the city live 2 to 4 to an apartment. Some don't mind but that faced with that why bother?

Also, the moving out thing is a recent American thing. Most people around the world live in family compounds. This will become more normal as jobs decline and pay declines due to automation and globalization.

They scream for no borders. The immigrants they can’t get enough of vote 70% pro-abortion. I’ve been banned from the Facebook pages of Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop Chaput, and Archbishop Gomez for pointing out this fact.

Guy leaves home.

Guy marries woman.

Woman gets bored.

Woman leaves.

Woman takes half of the man’s salary.

Man moves back home with his parents.

Then the women trash him for not being a good guy.

Yawn...

Men today face a raw deal, and we shouldn’t second-guess their decisions (and freedom to make them).

Exactly. This is nothing but attempted shaming of the next generation to be sucked into the family court slave machine. So what if a guy lives at home? How does that harm our society in itself?

Furthermore. wasn't it an American tradition at one time for extended families to live together? Multiple generations in the same house, or at least in next door houses, working the farm and supporting each other in life? Maybe what the a-holes on the Left are really afraid of: that they won't be able to brainwash the younger generation as easily if they are still heavily influenced by their parents. The Left needs people isolated and needy in order to steal their souls.

For that matter, women should be made to live at home until they are 30 or married. Save us a lot of the headaches that come from the all of the whoring around going on in the country.

Young Women can’t cook like the Guys Mommy’s do.

My Mommy was universally recognized as a GREAT cook. When I got hitched to Mrs. Chandler, her most elaborate dish was Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. That was then. Today, Mrs. Chandler is so good in the kitchen she could host her own show on the Food channel.

Come to find out, when my Mommy was first married to my Daddy, she didn't know how to boil water either.
