I have friends who are feeling like chumps and have begun throwing their aging supplies away.
Recall that sagest of wisdom “the markets can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent”, and adjust, but do not give up, accordingly... :-)
The solution is to give the government more power and more control, of course.
You’re not supposed to “throw aging supplies away”.
You’re supposed to practice FIFO!
I just pulled, from my long term supplies, a big container of soy milk. When I squeezed it, it felt more akin to soy pudding. Not gonna open it and see.
Speaking to your point, I think it’s a testament to the strength of our economic system and the mettle of Americans that we haven’t met with disaster, not yet at least.
When will we face imminent collapse?
When people least expect it. When ppl start throwing away their aging supplies and not resupply
Only if Bernie the Bum wins.
Who’s Greenspan married to? Now that’s crazy for sure.
This is how the world ends, this is how the world ends; not with a bang but a whimper.
I think this’ll go the way multiple corporate failures I’ve studied and seen will go. Continued slow decline propped up by increasingly extreme and ludicrous measures until the tipping point is more anticlimactic than anything else
If hillary becomes president.
The great irony is Greenspan, as Federal Reserve Chairman, put the debasement of our currency, national debt, and moral hazard of Wall Street and Gov’t insiders into hyper-drive.
Ever since Trump showed some success at his presidential bid I have had a nagging feeling that Hussein Obama will find a way to declare martial law just before the elections this year. Hope I’m wrong.
If I have to live my golden years out in a dirt hovel because the baby boomers couldn’t control their need to spend other people’s money I’ll be very sad. Very sad indeed.
How many of you think that Greenspan’s stupid wife doesn’t listen to him?
“I have friends who are feeling like chumps and have begun throwing their aging supplies away.”
Then they’re pretty stupid. We’ve never had a fire yet we’d never throw away our fire extinguishers.
Having emergency supplies on hand is just good common sense. If you manage your supplies right then you’ll just rotate them through your usual supply of staples. Like we keep flour and cooking oil and other essentials on hand and there’s enough for more than three months of certain things and then we probably have a year’s supply of canned goods and pasta and etc.
Our LDS neighbors helped us set up our pantry when we moved to Wyoming and we do our best to follow their good advice.

This is why this year’s Presidential election is so very important!
I saw exactly the same said here at the end of Clinton's presidency.
