HELSINKI, Finland Seeking to shine some light into the dark world of Internet trolls, a journalist with Finlands national broadcaster asked members of her audience to share their experience of encounters with Russias troll army, a raucous and often venomous force of online agitators.
The response was overwhelming, though not in the direction that the journalist, Jessikka Aro, had hoped.
As she expected, she received some feedback from people who had clashed with aggressively pro-Russian voices online. But she was taken aback, and shaken, by a vicious retaliatory campaign of harassment and insults against her and her work by those same pro-Russian voices.

Obama and his media puppets could write quite a few volumes on being a “Troll Gang”.
By gosh, the Russians have sunk to a new low and hired the most vicious trolls to do their dirty work, ...Obama trained American Democrats.
At the same time, Ms. Aro has been peppered with abusive emails, vilified as a drug dealer on social media sites and mocked as a delusional bimbo.
I don’t know if these people are acting on orders from Russia, but they are clearly what Lenin called ‘useful idiots,’ said Mika Pettersson, the editor of Finlands national news agency
We should see how many comments are trolling here as well.
Oh, dear, that put the cat among the pigeons! United Russia stalwarts, rancorous Internet trolls, professional political fixers, the whole motley crew took as one to berating Gorbachev, as if I had said something subversive and un-Russian.
...It took me a whole life to grow from writing that essay in tenth grade on Stalin is our military glory to understanding the need to rid ourselves of Stalinism, of his entire legacy, of totalitarianism, of our one-track way of thinking. Today too we need to free people from fear of the state, because until we do we cannot have a democratic state. That fear never completely left us and now it has come back again.

that sounds very familiar
Gorby? lol,,, he was the worst. He tried everything he could to save communism. And now pretends to be a voice of reason? Retarded.
Yes, we're lucky those vicious pro-Russian trolls haven't tried to disrupt this community!
Bitter Ted Cruz supporters, on the other hand, are still trying to take cheap shots whenever they can.
It's very unfortunate that Ted Cruz, thus far, has failed to honor the pledge he (and all the other GOP candidates) made, specifically:
I affirm that if I do not win the 2016 Republican nomination for president of the United States I will endorse the 2016 Republican presidential nominee regardless of who it is, the pledge reads. I further pledge that I will not seek to run as an independent or write-in candidate nor will I seek or accept the nomination for president of any other party. The wording is clear enough that even a lawyer can't weasel out of it without forfeiting his or her honor.
Hopefully, Ted Cruz will get over his bitterness at being defeated fair and square, and come to his senses before too long. At that point, most of his remaining supporters will hopefully take the hint and follow suit.
All Ted Cruz is doing is aiding and abetting the Hillary campaign at the moment.
William Kristol, Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney and their ilk aren't the kind of people Ted Cruz should want to be associated with.
Glad to see you back, nb!
Vote Trump!
Gorby is NWO Globalists. Backed the Climate Change directive to control world energy supplies.
People posting in favor of NATO or the West or whatever online are never referred to as such.
The Russian trolls were here back during the Georgian war. And they were nasty. Posting images of a bowl of soup with a human eyeball floating in it. Hard core working for the state. Now we mostly have NWO CIA holdovers still dreaming of ways to control the internet. Give it up boys. Trump is coming.
As a Christian, Cruz must choose between honoring his pledge to support the nominee of his party or to turn his face away from the commandment to Honor His Father who has been shamefully traduced by Donald Trump in insinuating that the senior Cruz was culpable in the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
The Trump insinuation is so outrageous in my view as to release Cruz from any commitment. I do not feel released from my commitment to support Trump when he becomes the nominee, but I could fully understand Cruz declining to do so. If my father were libeled in such a way, I too might be reluctant to endorse the man who slandered him.
Let the swarm continue.
