Stephen Hawking understands the workings of the universe — but says he cannot fathom the popularity of Donald Trump.

The British astrophysicist told ITV’s morning show Monday that the presumptive Republican Party candidate for U.S. president “is a demagogue who seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator.“

Hawking also appealed to British voters to vote to keep the United Kingdom inside the European Union in a June 23 referendum. …

I was going to say something similar, the media says he’s a scholar, so it must be true. It is all make believe..there is a little funny talking robot with flesh. I just cannot figure out how they make him talk.

Hawking doesn’t understand the workings of the universe either. No one does.

Stephen Hawking knows cosmology but should keep quiet about politics, scuba diving, sky diving, how to do a triathlon, climbing Mount Everest, swimming the English Channel. He can watch these thins on TV from the comfort of his own home but he should not venture into areas where he could not function.

I don’t look to Stephen Hawking for permission or guidance or validation on what to believe. He can keep to his theories on physics.

Well Stephen consider this.

You know many of your colleagues who are atheist because they cannot accept the idea that God exists, because this possibility is so unpalatable to them.

We kinda feel that way about Hillary.

Stephen Hawking is a fraud. That phony computer generated voice is not really his IMO. It's like weekend at Bernie's.

To be fair, 99.9% of us should then refrain from offering opinions about all of those things, too.

Brilliant man, but his view of politics is only his opinion, just like everyone else.

I can’t think of a more unqualified person to discuss Trump, and what motivates patriotic Americans, than Hawkings. Unless it’s Bill Kristol.

Yes. It is ALWAYS the same for the “intellectual” classes and the High Priests (gods) of Scientism (a religion).

They always make incredibly dumb statements about subjects which they lack wisdom, because they are so compartmentalized, limited, and had no time and experience to acquire knowledge in other areas.

He also made the dumb statement in a book, “Philosophy is Dead” which proves that he is an idiot outside of his field of cosmology.

I would even add that he is “dumb” when it comes to analysis of facts/data in his own field of “science”-—which actually points to an Intelligent Designer (as the atheist, Dr. Flew, acknowledged). So he goes through all sorts of convoluted, irrational “claims”, which tries to avoid the obvious (truth) which is VERY unscientific.

The biggest promulgators of scientism have always been the communists. Engels came up with the term “scientific socialism”, which was adopted by the most violent elements of the USSR’s ruling class as a justification for the suppression of religion particularly.

Elitist, pure and simple. Elitists don’t “get” what we ordinary people “get”.

It’s the difference between book-smart and people-smart. It’s the difference between smart, and wise. I have a BIL who has a fairly high IQ, but when you look at how he treats people and how he lives, and the results, it’s very clear that he has zero wisdom.

I’m baffled why Steven Hawking is an atheist. A brilliant astronomer cant even consider that a Master Creator could be a possible source? I think he’s in delusional denial. Come out of that black hole Steven..

In my 20+ years working at one of the world's most famous hospitals I've rubbed shoulder with hundreds and hundreds of graduates of the world's top universities.Almost without exception these graduates proved themselves to be friggin brilliant regarding their knowledge (and understanding) of various scientific disciplines (including,of course, human anatomy and physiology) but absolutely friggin clueless about the wider world beyond the microscope, the CT scanner and the scalpel.

Hawking’s voice was engineered and built by Americans and therefore has an American accent. I smile and snicker every time I remember this. In his mind Hawking can travel through time and space, but to talk he needs the handiwork of us cretinous yanks. :)LOL
