This list was originally published by Ohioans for Concealed Carry PAC and then by the Kentucky Concealed Carry Coalition. It has ceased to exist on those pages. I found it on learnaboutguns.com, where it was republished. It is a compilation worth keeping. The list was originally published before February 8th, 2009. It has not been updated since then.
I know that it is only a partial listing. For example it does not list the case of Rory Vertigan, who shot, then captured one of three drug dealers who ambushed and killed Officer Marc Atkinson of the Phoenix Police Department on March 26, 1999. All three drug dealers were illegal aliens.
Here is the list:
There is NO evidence to support the assertion that law enforcement officers are put at risk by law-abiding citizens carrying concealed firearms in their car. There are no studies, even ones with twisted statistics, that draw this conclusion. How can that be? Because there is NO record of a law enforcement officers having been injured by a CCW permit holder during a traffic stop, anywhere in the 44 CCW states.
We can, on the other hand, offer numerous examples of armed citizens coming to the aid of officers in peril:
Herald-Tribune, Sarasota, FL
Driving to work one morning, Jim Povia, of Sarasota, Florida, saw a state trooper with his service pistol drawn, confronting a trio of male suspects during a traffic stop. Povia, a right-to-carry permit holder, pulled over and grabbed his .40 cal. pistol and went to the aid of the officer.

Very interesting read! Thanks for posting. I hsve wondered how I woukd react when confronted with a situation like this. How do you let the officer know you are one of the “good guys?”
Something is happening around the US right now that last happened in the early 1970s, in which criminals and radicals are targeting police for assassination. And it is happening in places not usually associated with radicalism.
I mention this because there is now a need to compile three important statistics: confrontation-based shootings at police, that is, criminals more willing to shoot it out than surrender; non-confrontation-based shootings, often “drive-by” shootings, where the officer was doing a routine duty when he is spontaneously attacked by unknown persons; and three, when officers are enticed into an ambush, with intent to murder them.
Recent shootings at police in the Phoenix area:
Sheriff Arpaio has been predicting a “war on police” for at least two years now, for a combination of factors, especially Obama releasing serious criminal illegal alien offenders from prison without deporting them. In combination with #BLM, rallying support against the police, and likely other factors, there is a chance that this could get out of control.
That's a very good question since the officer is probably flooded with adrenaline and his heart racing.........
This is my favorite:
Two gunmen kidnapped an Eclectic, Ala., town policeman and used the officer to gain admittance to the home of Carl Ray Barker in the early morning hours. Barker, an Eclectic banker, was taken by one gunman into town to open the banks vault, his wife, child, and the town policeman being held hostage by the armed companion pending a safe return from the bank.
When the time-vault resisted opening, the gunman returned Barker to his house and, after some debate, took the policeman away with him to get tape for binding all hostages until morning, when another attempt was to be made on the vault.
Barker, now held in his home with wife and child by the second armed man, asked if he could make coffee. The robber assented and Barker put water on the stove and got it boiling. I took the scalding water to the living room, said Barker. When he held his cup, I just poured the water in his face and grabbed his gun.
Barker pistol-whipped the robber into submission, loaded a shotgun and waited for the return of the other bandit. When the door opened, the captive policeman dived out of the way and Barker killed the would-be bank robber with two blasts.
Barker said he feared for his familys safety and, I didnt want my bank to get a bad name about being robbed.
I will not play first responder dude anymore ever since I was threatened with arrest after saving someone in a burning vehicle. ain’t patting myself on the back, but the so called ‘off duty’ pig was way too fat to be of any help and I jumped in. Sun of a batch told me to get lost or take a ride. I said funk you and left.
“How do you let the officer know you are one of the good guys?
My first and immediate reaction. An officer holding a gun on three men could very easily think that you are coming to help those three and then anyhthing could happen.
After the situation calmed down, maybe you should have had a talk with this policeman's supervisor. Sounds like he should not be on the force.
I would like to hear the other side of the story.
bttt
That is the problem. Any responding officers coming up may also misread the situation.
Well you are going to have to find mouth-breathing fat pig. He apparently no longer is employed with the city.
