Trump camp concedes it's low on money
Washington Examiner ^ | May 27, 2016 | Joel Gehrke

Posted on 05/29/2016 3:08:01 AM PDT by Pinkbell

Donald Trump's campaign has alerted Senate Republicans that he won't have much money to spend fending off attacks from Hillary Clinton over the next couple months.

The notice came when Paul Manafort, Trump's senior advisor, met with a group of Senate Republican chiefs of staff for lunch last week, sources familiar with the meeting told the Washington Examiner. The admission suggests that Trump will be far more dependent on the GOP brass for money than he has led voters to believe, but it's consistent with his reliance on the Republican National Committee to provide a ground game in battleground states.

"They know that they're not going to have enough money to be on TV in June and probably most of July, until they actually accept the nomination and get RNC funds, so they plan to just use earned media to compete on the airwaves," one GOP source familiar with Manafort's comments told the Examiner.

That's a far cry from Trump's public insistence that he signed a fundraising agreement with the RNC in order to help the party, not himself. "The RNC really wanted to do it, and I want to show good spirit," he said last week. "'Cause I was very happy to continue to go along the way I was."

Still, Trump allies have suggested that the RNC is going to take advantage of the real estate mogul. "I don't think the RNC is 100 percent committed," a GOP donor told CNN. "If Donald Trump's seven points down in October, they're going to put that money toward Senate races and House races."

Who pays attention to politics during the summer?

Wall Street. The market tanked immediately after BHO took the Democrat nomination. Check out the charts.

“Of course the Trump haters, the #NeverTrump crowd (mostly bitter Cruz supporters whose Tweets are indistinguishable from leftists) are gloating over this.”

And of course the Cruzlims will refuse to ask themselves where greasy Felito would have obtained his money.

“That said, the campaign which spends the most is in no way guaranteed a win in any election.”

No, it isn’t. The curb stomped trail of establishment tools like “Ted” (not his real name) Cruz are proof of that. Very economical kills.

“Sorry, you don’t win the POTUS without tremendous support and financial backing...”

True. Which goes to illustrate just how feeble the losers were who got that kind of backing and lost in the primary.

We can all believe Trump is always a genius, but if months of attack ads go unanswered in key States, it can be a disaster. That is reality.

And the GOPe being his main funding, also a disaster.

Trump prefers a mean and lean operation.

He won the nomination having spent less than $50 million.

Trump doesn’t want a top heavy campaign because that’s not how he does it and he hates to waste money.

And spending lots of money is no guarantee of success.

Jeb blew through $140 million dollars in the autumn and winter with nothing to show for it.

Plus, with Trump’s universal name recognition, money is not as critical a consideration as it would be for someone not as well known.

As Trump has said over and over again (correctly), when you go to donors for hundreds of millions, some pretty big strings are attached.

What sort of strings do you think will be attached to Trump?

Like all other candidates who win they have fund raiser to pay off debt. Granted it may take a while...

There may also be a tax deduction/credit available and if their is Trump will find it.

Since Trump didn’t raise money for the primaries this is a nothing burger

Trump is raising money now for RNC so they will be footing a part of general expenses. Then there are matching funds from gov. Plus Super Pac funds

This is the delusional set trying to find a reason to be happy

"All Trump has to do is ask is 12-15 million voters to donate. He would have $100s of millions overnight.

And he could triple that having a raffle of sorts. Say $100 per chance for 10 donors to accompany Trump on his plane to a rally, then a ride home to Maro Largo for an all expenses pair weekend to unwind after.

Something as unique as that approach to fundraising would be magnified in the press, and reinforce the theme of not beholding to the donor class.

“the RNC is basically going to give up the Presidential election and just focus on House and Senate races”.......

Exactly the reason we have the ilk we currently have running this country. If so, history will repeat itself and we will get another “odumbo”.

Trump will simply use Twitter and the media to get his message out...no need for advertising at this point.

...and most of Hillaries ads will likely backfire on her.

Why would the GOP be his main funding? To my knowledge, Trump has not yet put out a call for money. Watch what happens when/if he does.

In their zeal to see Trump destroy the GOPe, I guess they weren't listening..

And in your zeal to never miss taking a snarky swipe at Trump, you never miss a chance to do so because I see your smart ass comments on every Trump related post here.

Your candidate lost. Get over it, already.
