I agree with the Senator. The Secretary of Veterans Affairs is supposed to represent and look out for veterans. His remarks are beyond insensitive. He should indeed resign.

Wait time IS part of the experience. And all that I’ve read about Disney Parks is that EVERY thing is managed, including wait times, so that guests have a good experience.

I really don’t think the argument that the quality of the experience is more important than its promptitude is going to fly when the penalty of waiting is death and physical suffering. The fact that he didn’t immediately apologize for his remarks proves that he shouldn’t be in this job.

I was sitting in an exam room and a Doctor was examining a Veteran in the next room. The Doctor asked the Veteran if he had any pain in his stomach.

The Veteran replied, “I don’t have a stomach.”

“Everybody has a stomach,” the Doctor said.

“I took three bullets in the stomach,” said the Veteran. “I don’t have a stomach left.”

Got pretty quiet in that exam room.
