Senators calls for VA chief to resign over Disney remark
Washington Post ^ | May 24, 2016 | Joe Davidson, Paul Kane

Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) has called on Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert McDonald to resign because of his remarks comparing wait lines at a Disney park to VA health care.

“Secretary McDonald’s preposterous statement is right out of Never Never Land,” Blunt said Tuesday. “I call on him to resign because it’s clear he cannot prioritize getting our veterans the health care they deserve and have earned in a timely manner. Dismissing wait times when veterans can often wait months for an appointment is negligent and a clear sign that new leadership is needed at the VA.”

I agree with the Senator. The Secretary of Veterans Affairs is supposed to represent and look out for veterans. His remarks are beyond insensitive. He should indeed resign.

Actually they should just fire him. Let Obama & company explain why they can’t.

But didn’t this guy just take over from Eric $hitsticki? At the VA, just how many morons do they have to install as administrator to get someone with half a brain?

I understood the gist of the Secretary’s comments. But they were horribly naive.

Wait time IS part of the experience. And all that I’ve read about Disney Parks is that EVERY thing is managed, including wait times, so that guests have a good experience.

I’d sh!t can the guy just because he’s so damn dumb and not qualified to even be a jr. senator from Illinois.

I STRONGLY DISAGREE, leave the poor SOB in charge, instead introduce Legislation making the VA the SOLE Health Care Provider for ALL FEDERAL EMPLOYEES.

It's a world of laughter,
a world of tears
It's a world of hopes,
a world of fear
There's so much that we share
And it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all

Fire him. If he resigns, he’ll get a nice severance check, continued benefits and retirement.

You can bet the farm, DIS knows exactly the wait times all across the park.

They are a service industry, without happy customers they would swirl the drain.

Wait time IS part of the experience. And all that I’ve read about Disney Parks is that EVERY thing is managed, including wait times, so that guests have a good experience.

I just got back from my first trip to Disneyland, during school vacation week no less. There are ways to reduce wait times. By the second day we had figured them out — including getting a “reserved” time, sometimes within an hour, sometimes hours later; the wait for the “reserved” tickets was no more than 20 minutes; getting there early, and splitting up - there are single rider lines which go pretty fast.

In conclusion I thought waiting in line would be a major drag, but it was not.

People waiting in Disney lines are there voluntarily and waiting a maximum of hours for an entertainment experience. Nobody in a Disney line is waiting months for a colonoscopy to determine whether or not they have colon cancer.

Flash, comparing wait lines at a Disney park to VA health care is B.S.. Getting our veterans the health care they DESERVE and have EARNED in a timely manner should be priority.

Let’s keep in mind that Secretary McDonald is part of the Obama Regime, and the Regime considers veterans to be the enemy and a threat to be eliminated.

I really don’t think the argument that the quality of the experience is more important than its promptitude is going to fly when the penalty of waiting is death and physical suffering. It was a stupid rationalization. Try it with an abscessed tooth sometime - “yeah, we’ll give you a perfect root canal but you have to wait a week and no, we don’t have time to see you to prescribe any pain killers.” See what happens.

The fact that he didn’t immediately apologize for his remarks proves that he shouldn’t be in this job.

I was sitting in an exam room and a Doctor was examining a Veteran in the next room. The Doctor asked the Veteran if he had any pain in his stomach.

The Veteran replied, “I don’t have a stomach.”

“Everybody has a stomach,” the Doctor said.

“I took three bullets in the stomach,” said the Veteran. “I don’t have a stomach left.”

Got pretty quiet in that exam room.
