Report: Gingrich Lobbying To Be Trump’s Running Mate
hotair.com ^ | May 23, 2016

Posted on 05/23/2016 2:18:41 PM PDT by Helicondelta

Actual quote from Ed Rollins about the fact that a Trump/Gingrich ticket would have six wives between them: “They certainly understand women.”

...

Gingrich has a reputation for insinuating himself into campaigns by firing off dozens of e-mails brimming with ideas that range from brilliant to insane. While it’s a quality that has irritated previous presidential candidates such as John McCain and Mitt Romney, sources say that Trump has come to value the former speaker’s opinions.

“They talk every day,” says a source familiar with the relationship, who claims that Gingrich e-mails Trump, campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and campaign manager Corey Lewandowski “countless times a day.” On Friday, the source says Gingrich sent five messages after lunch, musing on everything from Fox host Megyn Kelly’s interview with Trump to Trump’s recently announced list of potential Supreme Court nominees to ideas for targeting Bernie Sanders’s voters…

Think though this.

Newt would be the wrong resource for VP. Newt is much more effective as advisor/mentor to Trump in a Chief of Staff capacity. Trump needs to groom his replacement. Newt is too old to take the baton from Trump in 4 or 8 years.

A guy like Duncan Hunter Jr. or someone with his bonafides, would be a superior selection, now and into the future. Planning and anticipating requirements are important aspects in this decision.

Could well be. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that were the case.

There are very few people Trump can pick that won’t piss me off.

The entire GOP stinks to High Heaven, so I am not sure where Trump goes on this.

Trump should pick someone young and conservative as VP.
If the pick could also help in a swing state mores the better.

Then when the first chance comes up put the new VP on the SCOTUS.

Then stick Newt in as VP.

Thanks. I supported Newt for president in the last election. He’s brilliant, but he’s alpha. I’d love to see him on the Supreme Court.

I am in agreement with you...the worse Newt wants it, the less comfortable I am with him.

Ditto.

Agreed.

No one had a problem with Dick Cheney. Our country needs a complete turn about in the first 100 days.

To do that, you need a top notch person to maneuver through House and the Senate on DAY 1. Only Newt can do that. Trump is going to win. Our country needs help NOW. Obama continues to try and executive order his way through these final months.

We need the mind of a surgeon and the leadership of Trump to remove all destruction over the past 8 years. This isn’t about playing games. Trump will win on his own, DOES NOT MATTER WHO HIS VP IS, unless the person is a RINO, then he would have people doubting his sincerity.

Trump / Newt ticket would right our nations course. Again, the VP pick shouldn’t be about show. Trump always picks the most competent person. Did Joe Biden bring any new states for Obama? NOOOOOOO Did Joe Biden or Dick Cheney run as President after the 8 years? NOOOOOO

What is the issue? Newt is the most qualified for the position, PERIOD. And loves our country, runs circles around the lying liberal media. And is always the smartest guy in the room? Newt Gingrich as VP would be a GIFT for our country in 2017.

AGAIN, neither Cheney or Biden sought the Presidential spot.

GO NEWT for VP!

Trump is going to win this election because of Trump. Period. His pick only matter as it relates to conservatives. Those who are middle of the roaders, never voted before, or are blue dog Dems voting for Trump will not change their minds because of Trumps VP pick. Trump needs to pick the person who can hit the ground running as VP and can work with the Hill and the Senate from DAY 1.

Go Newt!

I hear you. I’m with you. And I think that is why the ultimate pick will be a complete surprise. In the Storm the Bastille mood that most of the nation is in, I don’t think the choice will come from Versailles.

There is NO reason he is bound to pick a known politician, or indeed any politician at all. He may choose from the military, business, academia or whatever. What thing has he done conventionally so far? I can see him rejecting all of the political people out of hand.

I expect a surprise name that no one is mentioning or considering right now.

Same

Newt would hit it outta the park and make his boss proud. Trump would be so wise to pick Newt. Trump is about to be United States of America CEO. He needs to pick the most capable, experienced and brilliant person for the position that can start crafting the first 100 days during the primary. That person is Newt Gingrich.

> There is NO reason he is bound to pick a known politician, or indeed any politician at all.

He’s already stated he will pick a VP with experience navigating the legislative scene to help him govern. So it will be a politician.

Ah, well so much for that. Thank you for that clarification.

Hmm. Could still be from academia in theory, but I think he prefers actual work experience.

I believe Newt is genuinely excited about Trump running for President. He sees that things might really change.

My guesses in order of likelihood are Pete Sessions, Rand Paul, and Jim DeMint. I could live with any of them.

Newt is has both the scholarly background, he has his PhD and was a Professor, and he went to Washington and WORKED. Think about it. Newt knows our nations history, understands the constitution and fixed Washington for the time he was there. He helped Republicans win the majority for the first time in decades and balanced the budget for the first time in decades. So yeah, Newt has the work experience.

I like Allen West, but a qualified woman might also be a good addition.

This is 2016.

Allen West can self identify as a woman.

The commiecRATs would have to respect her.
