Ted Cruz just crushed Donald Trump in Washington State election of GOP delegates
This Week ^ | May 23, 2016 | Peter Weber

Washington State holds its Republican primary on Tuesday, and with one candidate left in the race, there's not too much drama about the outcome. But in a twist — and what would the 2016 race be without a twist? — 40 of Washington's 41 delegates selected Saturday to attend the Republican National Convention in July are Ted Cruz partisans. Cruz supporters outnumbered Donald Trump supporters at the state GOP convention in Pasco, and they were better organized, pushing through the Cruz slate of delegates over occasional protests from Trump backers, who noted repeatedly that Cruz is no longer in the race.

At the Washington convention they asked “how many of you is this was your first time at a convention?” Almost everyone in my area raised our hands - I’m guessing maybe 50% through out. So obviously not “party insiders”. (Jack Bell, an 18-year old, was elected as an alternate delegate).

And I’m not sure what the line between “selected” and elected is. I voted three times - precinct, district and at the Convention.

And while almost all of the Cruz supporters and the national delegates obviously support Cruz, most of us are also mostly behind Mr. Trump. I’m guessing that he will win in our primary tomorrow which binds the delegates. (So they will be “Trump Delegates”)

When the party chairman said something like “And while the wounds may still be fresh now, we will bring unity to the party and turn Washington State red, and elect a Republican President and Republican Governor!!” It got a rounding round of applause and hoots and hollers.

Do you know what Stockholm Syndrome is? You have it. But there is a cure. The Cruz vaccine developed by Donald J. Trump. :-)

Trump supporters are freaking out over stories like these about delegates, rules committees, etc and you can tell from the comments that they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. I guess it’s bad of the few of us who have taken the time to read and understand what is going on to let them know. Please, carry on overreacting to a subject you know nothing about. That is always helpful and produces desired results.

No Trump supporters are mocking this pathetic Cruz nowheresville story. Its over Trump has won and as the nominee at the convention he will rule. Ted Cruz will have no say so in anything. He will be lucky to get inside the front door. Cruz screwed up his campaign beyond anything I could have imagined. He won’t be party to the rulemaking.

Bottom line is that Ted Cruz is over. He’s going to be back in his Senate seat next week contemplating his navel. He will not be engaged in writing the GOP convention rules. The winner calls the shots and makes the rules not a sore luzerman.

So sorry you're so sensitive, newby. I encourage you to stop trolling.

See, two can play your stupid condescending game.

I really don't understand why you're trying to be such a prick. I simply pointed out that threatening verbiage toward a high profile individual, in conjunction with a photo of a gun and bullets, might not be a good idea. And yet you've glommed onto the idea that maybe it is good to post such an apparently threatening comment on FR, because it's referencing an old culturally relevant movie, and therefore you're somehow better than me.

Weird.

Again, you're probably a good guy. You've been here almost as long as I have, and we've not had any problems up till now. I encourage you to just let this stupid thing go and move along.

I have “MittHurt” because I pointed out that an apparently threatening comment might not be a good thing to keep published on FR? Really?

So you are actually in favor of publishing threats toward high profile individuals, along with photos of guns and bullets? You really think that’s a good idea, considering who is reading this site?

I encourage caution and wisdom, and I’m the bad guy?

Right.

“ He will not be engaged in writing the GOP convention rules.”

That is not necessarily correct. He won’t directly but he will most likely have a significant number of supporters on the rules committee.

No Trump will control the rules committee. Cruz will be pretty much shut out as he is unwilling to even endorse the nominee or do anything to unify the party. The nominee runs the show. Most delegates will be eager to unite with Trump and put Ted in the rear view mirror where he belongs. Only a handful of people on FR have been unable to accept reality. You appear to be one of them.

You have no idea who I am, what I’m involved with, what I stand for. And yet for some reason you feel it necessary to trash me.

I work with Allen West. I work with Joe “The Plumber.” I work with Doug and Regis Giles. I work with dozens of other high-profile conservatives. I work on many pro-Trump websites, including the new site FightingForTrump.com

You have no idea what kind of person I am, but you seem to want to assume the worst. I was simply saying that maybe it’s not a good idea to publish a comment threatening a high profile person on FR. And yet you attack me for urging caution.

Just knock it off, would you?

You understand that Trump has nothing to do with picking who is on the rules committee?

Anyway, I could very well be wrong, but as I said, I believe that “most likely” there will be a significant number of Cruz supporters on tbe rules committee. Just guessing it will be somewhere between 25 % - 50%. Should know in a few weeks.

Trump has many many delegates on the rules committee. The pressure will be on everyone to unify. That’s what will happen. Ted Cruz is going to be lucky if he is not persona non grata.

I know at the Washington Convention most of the Cruz delegates look forward to “unity”, but also want to be involved in developing the party platform. Many mentioned keeping the wording in the platform about no abortions, and not accepting some of the things Mr. Trump has mentioned regarding allowing abortion for rape, incest or the life of the mother. So things like that the Cruz supporters (and others) will still be involved in shaping things.

I was simply saying that maybe it’s not a good idea to publish a comment threatening a high profile person on FR.

In the context of Byron_the_Aussie's post, the "3:10 to Yuma" reference was to Manafort's presumed WA state "Republican" opposition, NOT Manafort himself.

I have not seen the recent remake of "3:10 to Yuma", with Russell Crowe, and I'm not sure I ever saw the original.

But I am very aware of the plot of the movie itself.

Just because you haven't been culturally exposed to a common cultural icon doesn't mean that everyone has to pay attention to your "Look At Me, And My Important Post!" schtick when you interject a non-sequitur.

You need to get out more. Go see some old Westerns.

And BTW - you're just some anonymous guy or gal on the Internet.

Posting your "resume" doesn't mean "doodley-squat".

There's another famous cultural reference for you.

Can you identify the movie?

Indeed. That is why I believe they have organized so well to be the delegates at the convention; to insure that the traditionally conservative values remain a part of the party platform. Given that most elected republicans don’t give a crap about the more conservative values of the platform I’m not sure it is worth the bother.
