Nobert Hofer of the populist FPO and Alexander von Bellen of the far leftist Greens.

So does the NYT consider the other guy to be “far left”?

The New York Times is unfamiliar with the term “far left”. Here is a helpful conversion chart.

Nazi= Nazi
fascist= fascist
Constitutionalist= Nazi or Fascist
Conservative= Nazi or Fascist
Neo-Conservative= Nazi or Fascist
Paleo-conservative= Nazi or Fascist
Moderate Republican= Conservative (After August in an election year= Fascist)
Conservative Democrat (Extinct)= Fascist
Moderate Democrat= conservative democrat
Liberal democrat= Moderate
Social Democrat= Progressive (formerly Liberal)
Socialist= Progressive
Communist= Socialist or Progressive

So the mail in ballots haven’t been counted. I wonder what the security is on those ballots and the process used to allow voters to use them. Could this be an opportunity for mischief in the final count?

How can you project the final result based on mail in ballots when no one knows how those voters voted. How can a projection be so precise. Isn’t it a guessing game?

First and foremost, Hofer is anti-mass immigration. He’s said that Austria is not the home of those who go to fight for ISIS or who rape (this was unbelievably enough a controversial statement). His party is Eurosceptic, and Hofer said that in particular should Turkey enter the EU, Austria should immediately leave.

He’s very pro-gun. He caries around a Glock with him and talks about it a lot (he says Austrians need to be armed because of the extra threat all the migrants have brought). His party is also for tax cuts and pro-business. At the same, though, it is a populist party that wants to preserve the government programs that the Austrian people are used to. The party says that it is the mass immigration that Austria is receiving that puts these programs at risk.

Some in the media have taken to calling him the “Donald Trump of Europe” for his nationalist tinged populism. His slogan is “Austria First.” However, unlike Trump, he is very soft-spoken and walks with a limp and a cane, so he’s considered fairly unthreatening for what the Euro press propagandists always term the “far right” or worse. His party does have a somewhat unsavory past, like France’s National Front, but it is by far the best chance for the survival of Austria. Naturally, the press has been as “fair” in covering Hofer as they have been with Trump.

Van der Bellen is a hard-left, pro-immigrant, feminist radical environmentalist.

So the postal ballots swung heavily for the Greens. I hope there is some followup with detail on what happened:

From your link: Alexander Van der Bellen is the first environmental activist to become Austrian president. He is a chain-smoker and left-leaning liberal committed to the EU.

How much more of a freaking hypocrite can one be? "Take the log out of your own eye, brother..."
