WASHINGTON – Sen. Ted Cruz is taking some time off from the Senate after his closely watched return to work last week...

“After several months of a nonstop schedule, Sen. Cruz is taking some downtime this week with Heidi and the girls,” Cruz spokesman Phil Novack said...

Where is Cruz going to unwind? Folks on Twitter say he’s been spotted relaxing in Mexico.

Actually, how many weeks has he taken off since he dropped out? He was also seen at the Kentucky Derby swilling mint juleps.

He’s probably still trying to orchestrate the convention rules committee shenanigans.

I agree with you, there’s nothing to be gained by continuing to criticize Ted.

Unlike that scumbag Romney who is still trying to eff things up and put a monkey wrench into the Trump candidacy, Ted is showing real class and did the right thing by pulling out when he did.

“Relaxing in Mexico” ... you’ve got to be kidding me.

I predict his wife will divorce him by the beginning of next year...

Naw.

There marriage is a financial arrangement. Heidi is basically a stock broker trading on the fame and influence of her Senator husband. An arrangement like this brings in a fortune to her, Ted, and Goldman Sachs.

How does someone miss 42% of votes that ARE his elected job and still be called a “staunchly conservative”? Was he not elected to do his job? Actions speak louder than words.

He’s pulling a Rubio and Rubio’s career is DONE because of going AWOL on his job. Chris Christie nailed Rubio and now his career is finished.

Mexico, where a fat Senator can hook up

with a 23 year old "walking petri dish."

SAD!

You are aware that many of the sites you gave supporting your theory that people will sit out the election are very old ones from when Cruz was still actively not covertly running. One was even Slate.

All valid points and you didn’t say these things disrespectfully. Although with #3 all candidates leave their day jobs be it Govenor, Senator, Rep, VP etc to run for the office Cruz isnt the first nor will he be the last. I have no issue if the guy wants to take a one week vacation to recharge. Hell for all we know he is thinking through a great deal that went wrong (introspection). No way he’d get that done in DC. But regardless, I’m ok if he wants to recharge as long as it isnt excessive.

With all due respect, my issue is that the Senate will no doubt have some sort of Memorial Day vacation, They have their summer recess from mid July thru mid September. Then they adjourn for a month and half starting in October. Taking off a week for posh stay in Mex, in addition to scheduled recess is a luxury that most of us “commoners” don’t have.

I am really tired of Washingtonian’s reality being so divergent from flyover country commoner’s reality. He has been off the campaign for over 2 weeks already.

IMHO He should have stayed for important Senate votes and left for Memorial Day.

As an aside, I think he should have done more to unify the party before taking off for vacay. When he speaks unification and defeating Hillz, that will go a long way towards improving relations between Trump and Cruz supporters.

“Assertion offered without evidence. Show me hard evidence of these ostensibly countless hundreds of thousands of otherwise rock-ribbed conservative voters out there who — as per your premise — will happily place Hillary Clinton squarely in the seat of ultimate power, because their delicate fee-fees got all hurted on Ted “Elmer Gantry” Cruz’s tender behalf. Sans any such proof, I give said mythical creatures roughly as much credence as I would pixies, or dryads. “

Man that was good!

It's just such a weird freaking argument, really, when you stop and think about it for even half a second. "They reason only as animals do reason! They're unprincipled, unpredictable, and think nothing whatsoever of seeing the entire nation covered in soot and ashes! WOE, WOE TO THIS THE REPUBLIC, SHOULD THEY NOT BE FULSOMELY APPEASED!"

I mean... seriously. Even the most hardened and cynical hostage negotiator would burst out laughing, eventually. ;)
