He Got It From His Mama? The Christian Case for Transgender Equity [Jesus is Trans]
Women in Theology ^ | May 13, 2016 | Katie Grimes

Here is what I want to say to Christians for whom the fact that “transgender people are clearly happier and healthier and more fully alive when they are allowed to be transgender” is not a good enough reason to accept transgender people into their homes, workplaces, schools, and bathrooms:

Since Jesus had no human biological father, and since God, his heavenly Father, lacks a body, then Jesus was a man who likely had no Y chromosome. Would this not make Jesus more like a transgender person than a cis-gender one? We could grant Jesus a Y chromosome, but then we would have to assign his virgin mother Mary one as well. Either way, the miracle of sex-less conception suggests that Jesus can qualify as a “real man” only if Mary qualifies as something less than a “real woman.” (And I hope you can tell I that I am using quotation marks in order to signal extreme sarcasm).

While many errors could be pointed out on the theology of this author, I will draw attention to the most fundamental: the author denies the full humanity of Jesus of Nazareth. This gnostic error was already being spread while the apostles were still living. John particularly reproves it as being of the spirit of anti-Christ.

Good God Almighty!

Exactly the right phrase. God created the first Y chromosome, and He was perfectly capable of creating/reusing a Y chromosome in a body for Jesus.

Because God can't create a "Y" chromosome to take care of the matter.

NOT.

Maybe that's part of this authors problem.

the fact that “transgender people are clearly happier and healthier and more fully alive when they are allowed to be transgender”

This is typical anti-science liberalism.

Dr. Paul R. McHugh, the former psychiatrist-in-chief for Johns Hopkins Hospital and its current Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry, said that transgenderism is a “mental disorder” that merits treatment, that sex change is “biologically impossible,” and that people who promote sexual reassignment surgery are collaborating with and promoting a mental disorder.

The science shows (no big surprise) that XX makes female, and XY makes male. There are extremely rare exceptions, where the genes have not expressed correctly, but those are one in a million, not the one in a hundred that activists are trying to lead astray. The science shows that removing healthy organs or introducing artificial hormones does not make mentally ill people either happier or healthier. Considering that the underlying problem is mental, surgical treatment should not have been expected to be any more successful than objective research showed (meaning that surgery is consistently an absolute failure).

Jesus is transgender? Yawn. Christians are used to blasphemy from bigots.

Now try saying that about Mohammed.

And another thing. She also said this:

They instead assume that God defines masculinity and femininity in the same way they do.

I will assume she is not necessarily privy to God's personal dictionary and that we get our definitions from God first.

As difficult as it may seem Katie, let me break it down for you a la Baltimore Catechism:

Lesson 2:
13. Q. What is God?
A. God is a spirit infinitely perfect.

19. Q. Can God do all things?
A. God can do all things, and nothing is hard or impossible to Him.

Since God is perfect and can do all things, He is not bound by the laws of nature. Therefore, the subject of chromosomes and gender are irrelevant.

Any argument to the contrary is heresy.

Her whole premise is ridiculous, so I won’t waste cyberspace on it, but about all the hoopla about transgenderism....

Transgenderism is a MENTAL disorder. PERIOD!

Nothing to be admired, encouraged, or codified in law.

It needs to be treated as the illness that it is.

These people are SICK!

The next thing will be the condoning public masturbation. The left will set up “masturbation stations” with mirrors and hand out free Kleenex.

Gross, you say? Transgenderism isn’t GROSS? It isn’t an ABOMINATION?

Men in woman’s bathrooms, what is it exactly that we won’t tolerate?

Where do we draw the line?

Is there a line?

“Is there a line?”

When is the last time they messed up their timing on any cultural issue? I don’t know, that we are even having this conversation is pretty bad cultural indicator, right? I mean this looks a lot like the ‘gay marriage’ thing to me 20 years before it was just imposed like it was really no big deal.

So God could create an entire universe out of nothing, but has some trouble serving up a few strands of male DNA. Got it.

Just have to shake my head. Whereas there can be real discussion about Jesus’s chromosomes there does not need to be blasphemy like this. He is all man!

Having gotten the nuttiness out of the way, there are real questions. Half of our chromosomes come from our mother the other half from our father. Where did our Savior get his other half? Obviously God can just say, “Here are the other 23” and it is a done deal, but is there more than that? I don’t know the answer and whatever it should happen to be doesn’t change the two natures of Christ or the triune nature of God. Here is some speculation on my part.

1). Jesus is effectively a male clone of Mary, carrying all the chromosomes from her. No genetic material directly from God. - this not not my preferred theory

2) when God created Adam, he was the perfect man. Perhaps Adam even had a glorified body (maybe sin destroys the glorification of the body). This is why he and Eve could live forever in paradise until they sinned. Perhaps half of the chromosomes are the same as Adam’s. Interestingly enough, Christ is sometimes referred to as a new Adam. I’m personally leaning towards this theory.

As I said above, it doesn’t matter to me in the big picture how this was done as God speaks and it happens. However, I do tend to believe that God works within the rules that He created. We just don’t fully understand those rules (and probably never will).

Love to get some feedback on this, even if you (Freepers in general) patently disagree.

When I think about all these off beat sexual conditions, I think about Genesis and that GOD created them man and woman and then called everything he created good. He must weep in heaven when he sees what his people have done to his creation.

60%? Got a link for that? Do they reconstruct their genitals? How do their rebuilt genitals work, if they rebuild a penis? I assume they don’t get erections.
