The Texas pastor who sued Whole Foods in April for allegedly writing a gay slur on a cake he bought withdrew his lawsuit on Monday and apologized to the supermarket chain for perpetrating a hoax, KVUE reported.
"The company did nothing wrong," openly gay pastor Jordan Brown wrote in a Monday statement. "I was wrong to pursue this matter and use the media to perpetuate this story."
Brown said in April that he requested a cake from Whole Foods with the phrase Love Wins written on it, but when he received his cake there was a homophobic remark added. Brown made the accusation in an Internet video and launched a lawsuit shortly thereafter.
But alert viewers quickly pointed out that the icing style used to write Love Wins and the gay slur appeared to differ, and Whole Foods released surveillance video showing the cake being purchased with the UPC code in a different location than Brown's video, suggesting the cake had been opened and tampered with.

But they got to be lefty friendly so what to do, what to do?
I guess they are happy to have forced him to eat crow in public.
It was still for the good. Other parties, who might or might not be so forgiving, will take note.
If you read the entire statement to the media, this is the "settlement" demanded by Whole Foods, so they dropped their counter-suit as well.
His entire statement:
Today I am dismissing my lawsuit against Whole Foods Market. The company did nothing wrong. I was wrong to pursue this matter and use the media to perpetuate this story. I want to apologize to Whole Foods and its team members for questioning the companys commitment to its values, and especially the bakery associate who I understand was put in a terrible position because of my actions. I apologize to the LGBT community for diverting attention from real issues. I also want to apologize to my partner, my family, my church family, and my attorney.
And the response from Whole Foods (thanks, jaydubya2!):
"We're very pleased that the truth has come to light. Given Mr. Brown's apology and public admission that his story was a complete fabrication, we see no reason to move forward with our counter suit to defend the integrity of our brand and team members."
What if you were a good heart instead of a bad ass?
Everybody is a sinner.
The bathroom wars are, in part, because of temptation issues. Don’t tempt people to do wrong by lessening social safeguards, the bathroom warriors shout.
Well how about tempting people to act out strange ideas by not caring what is on your neighbor’s mind?
People like this may not have God, but if you know God and keep Him to yourself, you’re also provoking God to anger.
They deserve thousands of false allegations if they won’t prosecute; what a horrible message that sends...
Almost as horrible as Jesus, horrible indeed.
It’s not a hoax.
It’s a hate crime against traditional Americans.
Oh, and eff YOU Southern Poverty Law Center for encouraging this type of hatred. And their useful idiots in the FBI - ginning up hatred for traditional Americans...
He doesn’t even admit in his fake apology that he lied. Typical..
That would be hoax-intolerant.
And he didn’t say that he was the worst cad in the world or a general negative to the “gay movement” either.
But we take what we can get.
And his crime should be elevated to a "hate crime," because he used "sexual orientation" in order to defame others, and file a false report.
“But alert viewers quickly pointed out that the icing style used to write Love Wins and the gay slur appeared to differ”
*******
I saw the picture. The style of “Love Wins” and “f@g” looked to be about the same, except the latter seemed like it had been photoshopped onto an image of the cake. Not saying it was, but it appeared that way.
This one had HOAX written all over it. (And I don’t mean the cake.)
“Ed, the Hoax Hate Crimes Registry people called. They’re gonna need another 2 Terabyte drive soon.” —some VAR, probably
Yep, we all knew it was a lie. While I can’t stand Whole Foods, they need to continue their suit and see him in prison.
The uber lib Austin, TX evening news stations were all over it. Slobbering on themselves with the anti-gay slant. But they dropped it the minute the video tape of the real cake came out.
Having a cake covered with freshman feces is a gay boy dream, not a slur. I see why the queer dropped his suit.
