A 42-year-old man suffered second-degree burns after an unknown suspect threw acid on him during an altercation. Investigators say that an argument broke out between two people in the 2600 block of S. 13th Street about 8:30 p.m. Friday. The fight escalated when the victim, 42-year-old Mahud V, had acid thrown at him causing serious injuries. Mahud says that the acid burned through two layers of his coat. "I don't know the guy. The pastor who claimed he bought a Whole Foods cake that had a homophobic slur written on it has decided to drop his lawsuit against the company. Pastor Jordan Brown, who is gay, is a pastor of The Church of Open Doors, an LGBT welcoming congregation in Austin.

The Texas pastor who sued Whole Foods in April for allegedly writing a gay slur on a cake he bought withdrew his lawsuit on Monday and apologized to the supermarket chain for perpetrating a hoax, KVUE reported. What started as a self-defense shooting at a Tampa convenience store last month has turned into a murder investigation. Store owner Taquanda Shanti Baker, 32, is charged with filing a false police report, tampering/fabricating evidence and firing her weapon in an occupied dwelling to make it look like self-defense. The charges stem from a shooting last month at Baker’s Mini Mart on Armenia Avenue.
