Nebraska GOP Convention Humiliates Ben Sasse with Crushing 400 to 8 Reprimand
Breitbart ^ | May 15, 2016 | Michael Patrick Leahy

It was a huge hometown comeuppance for the young Nebraska senator who easily won his first political race in 2014.

Though the former official in the George W. Bush Department of Health and Human Services has been popular in his home state until Saturday, the utter rejection of the “Never Trump” efforts he has championed is sure to hurt his credibility with GOP voters in Nebraska.

His strongly conservative voting record on all matters except trade, where Trump is strongest, kept people from even speculating about a primary challenge when he runs for re-election in 2020. But now — with his “Never Trump” effort becoming a hugely unpopular misstep back home — that clear path to renomination may be in question...

Who knows but I have learnt one thing in recent years. Trust no one completely and that includes Trump. I support Trump but will never ever give any politician my complete trust anymore. That is now reserved for God alone. Everyone else should be on a very short leash these days.

Excellent excellent post.

I fully support Trump but will never not keep an eye on any politician again. Even if the people we support get elected the work is only starting as we have to keep an eye on them to at least get done 70% - 80% of what they said they would do.

Remember the goal is Never-Trump, not Stop-Hillary.

He has probably been told behind closed doors that helping stop Trump would ensure his political future, because THE PARTY would be so grateful to him.

Unfortunately for him, THE VOTERS will not be grateful, and (as he is finding out) neither will the party.

This makes me wonder about the rating system. No conservative would ever promote open borders or support for illegal aliens.

Trump is like the child who pointed out that the Emperor had no clothes. Everyone already knew that open border, free traitors were destroying America but only little people who don’t count were willing to say so.

>> This guy was a Tea Party backed candidate. What the hell happened to him? <<

Probably listened too much to Mark Levin, Glen Beck and Rush Limbaugh, when he should have been listening to reliably pro-Trump voices like Alex Jones, Michael Savage and Howard Stern.

(Or maybe Sasse really believed the Tea Party’s talk about all that outmoded stuff like limited government, free markets and faithfulness to the Constitution. How naive!)
