I remember the rumor started about scraping the inside of banana peels, baking the residue in the oven, then rolling it in Zig Zags.
The local Hoggly Woggly sold out of bananas about three times in a row before the wackos figured out that it was just another rumor.
But there were those that insisted it was the best high they had ever had.

I think it likely he saw seagulls dropping oysters on rocks and eating them and thought maybe they know what they are up to. Don’t ask me how the seagulls figured it out.
Oh I know, the hippies used to drive down our road and gather it back in the day. It grew right on the side where the grader threw up the soft dirt. Funny thing we never saw the same ones gathering it twice.
That’s not the latest high, that’s old news. Very very old news. that’s the kind of stuff primitive man was using to get high after watching how the animals acted after eating it. The original high, and always very popular with the “all natural” set, and the extremely poor set, and the “they don’t test for these” set.
Who figured out to grind wheat into flour and mix it with water and egg? Who figured out the right way to ferment grains to make alcohol? Desperate times call for gross experimentation.

I tried the Hawaiian Baby Rosewood seeds about 30 years ago. It was interesting, rather pleasant, had a nice afternoon playing around on the golf course. Mild Hallucinations, not crazy like LSD.
The downside is afterwards, you get violently ill. I vomited all over an entire garden. What dissuaded me from trying it again was the fact that the next day, all of those plants I vomited on were dead.
I remember these being used back in the mid 80's when I was in college. That would be 30 years ago.
They contained LSA (lysergic acid amide), as opposed to LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide), if I remember correctly.
