At some point this kind of disgusting behavior will be viewed as “therapy” for troubled children. There seems to be a movement towards justifying pedophilia that scares the hell out of me.
There are people on Free Republic who will attack you for expressing sympathy for child victims of sexual assault.
What is it with the name William Ayres that makes every famous one a terrible person?

Rest assured, the pedophiles are trying to convince enough journalists and Democratic politicians that their perversion is really “normal,” and they should have the same rights as everyone else.
And sadly, there are plenty of “progressives” willing to help. For years, the notorious North American Man-Boy Love Association was a regular participant in gay pride parades and the so-called leaders of the LGBT community had no problem with their presence. They only gave NAMBLA the boot when it became apparent the rainbow lobby was about to score major victories on gay marriage and related issues. At that point, their friends in NAMBLA became a liability. But based on past ties, there are still elements in the LGBT crowd that are tolerant and even sympathetic to pedophiles.
Ayres was a former president of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Throughout a career that spanned four decades, he became a pillar of child counseling in San Mateo County, seeing hundreds of young patients sent to him by the county’s pediatricians, social workers and juvenile justice system.These are the people who are now telling us that not only homosexuality but transgenderism are perfectly normal human behaviors that should be celebrated in a school locker room of your choice.
We are very quickly sliding down the slippery slope of depravity and the children will suffer.
He was there for 3 years of his 8 year sentence.
Being a psychiatrist alone puts one at a high risk of mental illness. Since God has been put out of the equation, too many of them become what they work with.
Your answer: decades. The old perv was finally convicted and sent to prison in 2013, but he was on the state payroll for years as the senior psychiatrist at a California youth facility. Then, after he was accused of molesting boys sent to him for evaluation, he did everything he could to avoid the slammer, even faking dementia at one point. His first trial apparently ended in a hung jury, so it took almost eight years to bring him to justice.

And to think he was once head of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Speaks volumes about that organization.
That would go along way towards solving the problem.
There was a GOP Congressman from Ohio by that name, was fairly decent enough.
That kind of blows the theory that inmates deal quickly with child molesters. This guy had been sucking up valuable air and tax money far too long.

If anything good can come of all these disgusting revelations, it wil be for parents never to just implicitly trust anyone, especially an authority figure, alone with their kids; and always to instruct their children not only about "stranger danger", but also to beware and to tell about any person who makes them feel "yucky" if they are alone together for a few minutes.
