On the right, we’ve grown to pride ourselves on our greater openness to debate and ideas, on having no need to toe a Politically Correct line or crawl into a “safe space” like pampered college kids who just can’t handle hearing from anyone who disagrees with them.
For myself, I am so personally dedicated to this ideal that I even perform the great personal sacrifice of reading the comments field beneath my articles.
Yet somehow I wasn’t surprised to see Donald Trump supporters, those swaggering tough guys, turn one of their favorite Internet forums into a safe space where they no longer need to encounter criticism or opposition. Earlier today, Free Republic proprietor Jim Robinson announced that the discussion board would no longer tolerate opposition to Trump’s candidacy.

The comments at the bottom of the article are so stupid. They all scream that it was pro-trump all the time, yet no one mentions the near constant anti-trump articles posted through out the primary season.

I’d welcome the debate but all the #ALWAYSHILLERY people do is lie, try to demoralize and talk about how much holier(conservative) they are than everyone else. There’s nothing to exchange with them besides insults and to mock them.
Besides, you ever try to comment on a #NEVERTUMP site? They ban you and delete your comments in about 30 seconds. There’s no point in dialog with such people.
After reading the original article, I understand what Jim has done. I, too, was an avid Cruz man, but my man lost and Trump, despite his occasional crudeness, won the Republican primary. I can’t say that I’m all in for Trump, but I will certainly vote for him. 5 more liberal Supreme Court justices, and a ravenous out of control justice dept. would certainly put America over the brink! To the extent that Donald supports true conservative values, I will support him and I will hold my nose if he has any forays into enlarging the nanny state!
I’m a 99er whom JR keeps around even when I defend people with gender / sex brain disorders! Not gay agenda, I did not say gay agenda. Lol.
They were vociferous in their defense and promotion of Cruz; for some reason they chose to ignore the fact that he started pulling the same slimy tricks that a standard RINO pulls in every election.
I started this election cycle as a Cruz supporter; but I also pay attention.
Cruz was weak going in and he knew it, he only appealed to the small section of us significantly to the RIGHT OF ATTILA THE HUN conservatives.
He let Trump do the work of eliminating the rest of the republican candidates and only had nice things to say about him.
When it got down to him (Cruz), a sure loser (Kasich), and Trump, he thought we would all just ignore the slimy (DC) tactics he started using against Trump.
Well; we noticed, and realized he was no better than the rest of the losers and DC Cartel Members who will do anything to get elected and stay on the gravy train.

Pay no attention. These elitist “Federalist” clowns engage in ZERO debate on their own website or twitter. The last thing they are interested in is substantive debate. They are all about lecturing the base like the rest of the bought and paid for “conservative” chattering classes.
I got sick of the constant pimping and ridiculous “articles”. A couple got pulled and locked (I’m sure there were more).
Trump wasn’t my first choice a couple of months ago, but he sure is way ahead of anything the Democratic notional convention is going to excrete out. He has my vote.

JimRob named this place well. It’s all we want. A Free Republic. The word “conservative” is just not precise, and it’s being used as a magic password. Its adherents are being spirited down a wrong path. It takes a lot of brainwork to realize that what you think is dear to you is what has trapped you in an enemy’s cage.
