AND NOW... amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke... it is time for... that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-The-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and he's not retiring until every American agrees with him - do NOT doubt him - with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name (that's Rush, for those in Rio Linda), the Mandarin of Talk Radio, with talent on loan from G-d, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back - just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, all-concerned Maha-Rushie! America's anchorman, truth detector, and doctor of democracy. A real man, a living legend, a way of life. Commander-in-Chief of U.S. Operation Chaos. Chief Waga-Waga El Rushbo of the El Conservo Tribe. Chief of the Patriotism Police. Leader of the Conservative Movement. A Weapon of Mass Instruction. El Rushbo (a little Spanish lingo, there). He is the man who is running America (you know it and I know it). He knows the Democrats like every square inch of his glorious naked body. He is ready to do what he was born to do - host. Get ready to what you were born to do - listen. And post your comments on the Rush Limbaugh LIVE Radio Thread.

Cruz scored 95 percent on the National Taxpayers Union’s 2013 scorecard, ranking the Texas senator third out of 100 senators. That was even slightly higher than Paul, who scored 94 percent and ranked sixth that year. Both received an “A.” (NTU has no 2014 scorecard on its website.)
Cruz did even better in the American Conservative Union ratings. Cruz got a perfect score in 2014 and 2013 and has a lifetime rating of 100 percent over his first two years in the Senate. Rand Paul scored 96 percent in both years and has a lifetime score of 98 percent over four years.
By these measures, Cruz — who helped engineer a government shutdown in 2013 in a failed effort to defund the Affordable Care Act — has a conservative voting record, contrary to what the ad says. Whether it is sufficiently conservative or too conservative we leave for others to decide.

How has this conservative record translated into any actual advancement of conservative causes?

“...actually trying to ruin—to utterly destroy—”

Looks like he took his Sea Island assignment to heart.

A few conservatives does not mean a majority. Should he just capitulate? Help me understand what trump has done for the cause? Anything? Does he have a record?

Thanks for that info. This approach is only suspect to those who’ve never run a business. The rest get it intuitively.

What interests me is the fact that Cruz supporters pushed this clip so hard during the earlier mos of the campaign. Someone in that camp clearly thought it would destroy Trump’s efforts to become the nominee.

Now for all practical purposes Trump is the nominee. And where of all places does this ‘Trump-destroying’ clip surface?

On the Rush Limbaugh show.

Hmm.

“Cruz...has a conservative voting record”

As in promoting and voting for the Obama/globalist agenda item TPA and voting for the Obama/globalist agenda item Corker bill and calling for the Obama/globalist agenda item 500% increase in H1-B visas and calling for more legal immigration, an Obama/globalist agenda item and saying that our immigration system is “broken” which is code for amnesty, an Obama/globalist agenda item? I could go on.

There is a reason career politicians are held in contempt by voters—and this goes strongest for GOPers. Namely, talk, talk, talk, rack up a high “conservative score,” and accomplish squat for the cause.

They’ve been at it for DECADES.

In years past voters were perhaps impressed with “high conservative scores.” Nowadays we’ve caught onto the game. “High conservative scores” amount to great talking points for the possessor of same. Their benefit to voters: zero, zilch, nada, the donut.

Trump is not a career politician. What he is is a patriot who loves his country and will put it first. That trumps a bright, shiny scorecard that hadn’t advanced conservative causes one millimeter.

Things that Trump has done include: He stood up to political correctness even when big businesses punished him (Macy’s,PGA tours, ESPN, and others). He brought up deporting illegal aliens and he was the first promote stopping bringing in flood of Muslims and he stuck with this in spite of extensive media attacks. If not for him, I doubt these issues would be seriously considered.

I guess TPA, Corker, H1B, BLM, and saying that Trump caused the Brussels attacks aren't under any of the graded categories? As I said many times before, he talks a good game, but when rubber meets road, he's no where to be found.

He did vote for the Bi-Partisan budget act of 2015 on May 12, 2015 before he voted against it later (after he announced). 1/20/2016 appears to be the last time that he voted.

“Rush is a Bushite. You won’t hear him ever criticize the Bushes for things past or for not supporting Trump as the nominee. Rush may only offer lukewarm support or damn with faint praise as we get closer to November. Hillary as President will put bigger bucks in his pocket.”

indeed. He apparently has no problem with the Bush clan taking Slick Willy in as their adopted son.

poor Rush seems to be having an opiate meltdown.

“There is nothing there for Rush to support. So Rush is not a pro American nationalist. Simple as that.”

and that is the key point: does a conservative have the interests of America first, or the interests of globalist bad/free trade, bad immigration, neocon faux conservatives?

time to redefine “Conservatism.”

Yes Fantasywriter. Someone has paid Rush to try and take out Trump.
I listened to the first 2 hrs today, as I was in the car. Rush played that Trump clip multiple times. It was clear to me what he was trying to do.
He has become the drive by media, doing opposition research on Trump.
This is really a sad ending to what I thought was a stellar career.
It is always about the money, when someone does a 180.

Did you miss Jim Robinson’s message today? It is time to defeat Hillary and stop the anti Trump crap on FR. I think he means NOW!

Thank you for that input. I agree that it is very sad. I used to listen to all three hours of Rush’s show every day. I really trusted him. Now, as you said, it appears he has put the agenda of some GOPe-type entity above principled considerations. Not at all the way one would have expected or hoped his long career to play out.

Rush mentioned that he was taking a 8 week vacation. Caused me to pull over and shoot him this email. Gee I hope he reads it.

“Take a eight month vacation. Maybe, you, Levin and Cruz can go on an extended cruise.”

So, the way one votes has no meaning for you? If votes don’t matter, what is the point in having leaders that don’t vote? Is the solution to not vote? Is that what you are saying? Conservatism is actually often defeated by the blackrobed tyrants people call judges. Anytime a conservative law is passed they throw it out and say it is unconstitutional, regardless.

At least Trump has spoken frankly about the fact that the US has lost its sovereignty. Without sovereignty, there is no country.

Cruz never discussed this issue. His approach to the ever increasing flood of foreign invaders was threefold: 1, ‘secure’ the border, whatever that means [even Jeb favored ‘securing’ the border]. 2, Mass legalization. 3, Soccer balls and teddy bears. At no time did Cruz even approach admitting that a country under never-ending siege by hostile foreign invaders was a lost country. It just wasn’t a matter of urgency to him.
